What have you done to your Mazda6 today?

Do it! vettes are nice but they can be such a money pit. my neighbor has a z06 and its nice but he has so much money into it its ridiculous (the reason he cant sell it and get a new one)

atleast with the MS6 you know everything that has been done to it and you did it all yourself.

Exactly. Like I dont know what exactly was done with this motor. And Vettes ARE a money pit. The abs unit that is bad is 1400 bucks.

Plus there is no real cup holder. wtf
 
MS6 has a s*** load of cup holders. if you can get your money back + more that would be sick. maybe give your suspension to your dad as a thanks but this car is a POS lol

or sell it and order more parts for the ms6!

Yea. He had good intentions. And helped me out a lot. I dont think he knows what all is wrong with it. I just told him about the tune and 2nd gear grinding. He told the owner about the 2nd gear. And he says yea its different than a 4 cylinder. You have to put the clutch all the way in for it not to grind. Well clutch to the floor and no difference. So I know this guy is BS'ing. My dad also brought up a tune to him and he said he knows a guy that can just plug in a lap top and tune it sitting there without a dyno for $150. I had to call BS on that one as well.

I dont think the guy would pay more than what he sold it for. Well he will because the tires he sold it with were bald and we had to buy new wheels off of him. The lowering kit I will leave on since it was a paint to install and it would have to be aligned again. Or I should take them off with a ****** up alignment and take it back to him and not mention it.
 
Well he sold it to you with all that s*** ****** up on it so you should do the same to him.. atleast that's how i feel about it. get that s*** sold and hop back in your ms6! you know you want to.
 
I guess I will settle for the slow ms6. Its funny. I always wanted all that power. But I realized its no good for daily driving. As soon as I would run out a gear I would easily be an excess of 120. Atleast 110 right out of 2nd. I never thought of my car as slow before. It was nice to experience the other side for a little bit. Though it was very nice to intimidate this cobra mustang that was messing with my dad in his vette. He didnt want to play with me after he saw my sling shot action. :D
 
Drove the speed6 to autozone this afternoon to pick up a clay bar and some detailing things. I still dont wont to let go of the speed! The vette is starting to piss me off. I can see now it is going to be a money pit. 2nd gear synchro is shot and I think the trann needs a rebuild. There is a terrible whine coming from the rear end under hard throttle and any speed over 70. I thought it was just the tires having a light squeel but its not. The motor has burned a quart of oil in the past 2 weeks. I am sure the piston rings are in bad shape. fml. Also my ebcm unit has gone bad for the abs. Its like problem after problem with this car. not to mention it needs a tune becuase it cant start and run by itself. I am considering taking this car and selling it back to the dealer.

Funny story, my friend bought a gto with the same issue, just replaced the clutch and the pressure plate I believe
 
Who am I fooling. I will keep the vette. After more research. The 2001's are known to burn oil until 2002 when new piston rings were put on to eliminate this. I also need to check the pcv system to make sure its not leaking there. The EBCM unit that goes for 1400 at the dealer. There is a company that rebuilds them for 300 bucks. Again. Another common problem amoung the 01's. As far as the differential whine many are saying that the fluid not being changed for a long time can cause this. So I will put in the 75w-90 and amsoil ATF for the tranny and go from there. If all turns out will. I will be taking it to a tuner. 2nd gear grind hopefully can be taken care of with a fluid change. If not I will have to skip and go to 3rd for the time being until I pull the tranny and have it rebuilt. I see a lot for just over a grand.


Now. Someone buy my 6 before I change my mind again!

Qwik: I work in the car business and I know every dealer is different, but a lot of times people automatically point blame at the salesman and say that they knew it was messed up and still sold the car without mentioning it and all that. But the reality of the matter is, when a dealership gets a car whether it is from trade in or auction buy, the car is usually very rarely driven to keep the miles as low as possible. So in many cases, the dealership and salesman actually have no idea that the car is messed up. At the dealer I work at, the most the car is driven is the one mile to the detail shop, the mile back, and maybe moved a few feet around the lot to change placement. Many times, the only people who may realize that the car is messed up is the porters (detailers) who drive them and in many cases they are afraid to say something because they can be pinned with the blame for messing up the car.

On the other side, there are dealerships out there who will sell you a car that they know is messed up, I'm not denying that there are definitely some shady dealers out there. You just never really know the truth because sometimes it can be hard to find out.

Taylor - best of luck with whichever you decide. I hate hearing about the problems with the Vette, because it sounds like little things that just didn't seem as obvious. Your MS6 is killer, and you've got a tough choice if you're seriously torn between the two cars.

Rez - Thanks, I'm still loving the GT. I've dusted a few Camaro SS's in the area who tried to be funny. I've got a plan on my suspension to get it ready for track use next year (in my other thread), and with the exhaust on it, it sounds so sexy.

I've thought about my MS6 a little recently. I wouldn't say I miss it, but I wouldn't mind taking it out for a spin again if it had all the mods on it still. During our fun run on Sunday, I ran at the back of the pack for part of it, behind a black 06 MS6, and it still looks dead sexy.
 
Rear O2 sensor now has a diode in the wires. Hope this will get rid of that stupid phantom CEL. I will just be tickeld pink if this 2 dollar fix with some tape and a shrink wrap fixes it haha.

So its 90349km on the odo, I will report back if anything comes back and how many km's its been.

LOL! Taylor is the master at flip flopping opinions on his MS6... sell/keep/sell/KEEP!!! oh wait, sell!! hehe, i dont blame you man! the vette is a fun ride. You seem to still hunger for the power, so you just gotta sit down and think if you'd EVER be satisifed with the MS6 limits.

Me, im happy with it. I track lightly, canyon lightly, and daily drive. That's it, so i wont ever need monster power (until i become a retired rich old fat guy ofc! haha). GL with your final decision man, at least it sounds like you really got a finger down on what most of the problems are with the vette!

I realized that i hadn't posted on here in a while...so, here goes. I still have mine, it's not going anywhere. I was sad to see a few of the others leave, but, it is what it is.

I thought I'd eventually be out of here, but I thoroughly enjoy my MS6, and the wife wants a CX-9...pearl white of course. So, I'll be adding on to that thread in the near future.

As for me, i know i hadnt posted in a few days, i just moved. thank god, it went super smooth, and after many years of many moves, it was as efficient as can be. Tomorrow is super maintenance & prep for future mods day! FINALLY gonna fix my exhaust hangers, bend that pinch weld lip away from the exhaust tips, install the new Denso's & install the new intake filter. Soon after, oil change.

Then perhaps end of 2010, or first thing 2011, ill start RIGHT back into my mod list.
i cant wait, big plans, new resources, new contacts, and more backing. not too mention I DONT PAY RENT ANYMORE!! WOOOOOOTTT!!!!

mine is at 90,8xxKM!! i had it on an 800km+ drive over the last 24H, piled full of me and 4 other guys and a full trunk of crap... and the thing still hauls ass.. everyone loves it
 
Mmmm nothin like a smooth running CLEAN car!!!

Warshed, semi-detailed, and applied protectants. Than drove to a buddy's place, installed new Denso Iridium plugs (omnomnomnom, smooooth!), installed new AEM intake filture 3"x5" (damn nice quality!), finally bent pinch welds away from exhaust tips (no more crazy rattling no matter how hard i take turns!) and re-enforced my crappy stretched exhaust hangers until i can buy new ones.

Super productive day, i love that feeling. :p
 
Last night, I met my girlfriend's cousin 15-yr-old friend who apparently drives a 92 Civic hatch that pushes 400hp on a stock engine with a Turbonetics piece. This little boy wanted to race me for pinks, cuz the gf's cousin told him about my car. Mind you, the cousin has not ridden in my car. He was only butthurt cuz I make fun of his Geo Metro "tricked out" with a fartcan exhaust tip and underglow.

now, before any mods get upset, I DID NOT street race. I don't participate in that. I just find it funny that this little kid wanted to "race for pinks" in his 400 monkeypower Hon-duh.

Leia got mad at me for not falling for hubris, though...
