What have you done to your Mazda6 today?

well, a bit of both. having the coolant bypass the throttle body is a fairly common modification, I just happened to have the nipple break off so I had to make a plug. Other people have cut down the egr valve finger that sticks 3 inches into the intake manifold because it kind of blocks the flow of air through it. I decided to also restrict the amount of exhaust gas it actually alows to suck back in. Since my car has 4 cat's, i decided to cut the 2 rearmost off because they dont have O2 sensors and are more of a "backup" to catch what might sneak by. I saw them as flow restrictions...

Got my xfeejayx interior LEDs yesterday and installed them today. It's a good thing he spent me a spare, too, because one of them burned out. I'm sitting in my back seat wondering a)Why isn't this bulb working?, b)Why is this bulb housing getting so hot?, and c) What is that distinct electrical burning smell that I'm detecting? Everything worked out well, though, and it's lookin' good.

On a side note, is it just me, or are those two Phillips head screws that secure the front map lights/sunglasses holder torqued to about 300 lb/ft? That ish was bananas.

when everything is made of plastic and aluminum bolts it is a bit tricky. Come to find out the platic bolt that broke was glued in place because mazda didnt want it adjusted. The car has been a lemon from day one. The first month I had it it was in the garage 4 times.

and for the record Bov. the mods that I did I did not come up with on my own, they have their own threads with successful results on this forum

And yes, I know I need to upgrade the suspension because it rocks way too much when I am in/out of the throttle, but i like the way it sounds right now

Drove the speed6 to autozone this afternoon to pick up a clay bar and some detailing things. I still dont wont to let go of the speed! The vette is starting to piss me off. I can see now it is going to be a money pit. 2nd gear synchro is shot and I think the trann needs a rebuild. There is a terrible whine coming from the rear end under hard throttle and any speed over 70. I thought it was just the tires having a light squeel but its not. The motor has burned a quart of oil in the past 2 weeks. I am sure the piston rings are in bad shape. fml. Also my ebcm unit has gone bad for the abs. Its like problem after problem with this car. not to mention it needs a tune becuase it cant start and run by itself. I am considering taking this car and selling it back to the dealer.

I really am considering it. What makes it bad is my dads friend is the one that owns the dealership that sold it to us. My dad called me and told me to check it out and he helped me buy it with me paying him back the money once I sell the speed. We should just offer to sell it back. I dont know he the guy actually knew the shape of the car. But its starting to get rediculous. I actually drove home today and parked it and hopped into the speed and had some piece of mind.

I realized that i hadn't posted on here in a while...so, here goes. I still have mine, it's not going anywhere. I was sad to see a few of the others leave, but, it is what it is.

That being said, it seems like Steve got the best end of the upgrade(s). Congrats dude...

And Qwik...sorry to hear that, that thing was looking good. I'm not a Vette guy, but you were doing all of the right things at least...hope it all works out for you.

Congrats to batou...nice to see someone with the passion that the job requires. I know Chris (Blendercloud) made the right choice in recommending you...awesome.

I thought I'd eventually be out of here, but I thoroughly enjoy my MS6, and the wife wants a CX-9...pearl white of course. So, I'll be adding on to that thread in the near future.

Otherwise, there will always be faster, newer, better...but not to me.

I think im gonna spend the day cleaning up the 6 tomorrow. And when my dad gets back in town. I'm gonna be like yea. So I want to keep the speed6 now. Atleast we know of 2 other people that wanted the vette and were willing to pay 2k more than what we did.

Do it! vettes are nice but they can be such a money pit. my neighbor has a z06 and its nice but he has so much money into it its ridiculous (the reason he cant sell it and get a new one)

atleast with the MS6 you know everything that has been done to it and you did it all yourself.
