???? This post reminds me of this:

I always drive flat out. I need to be in the fastest group. It's holding me back not being in the top group. I own a Koenisegg & a GT2.
Are you doing any of the HPDE's or just the hyperdrives? If you want to get your friends together and "Drive on track at a relatively fast pace" (be careful, they don't like it when you refer to HPDE or Hyperdrives as racing) then you are going to want to get into at least HPDE2. Not sure what its like at Mid Ohio, but at VIR and Summit Point the hyperdrives are more like parade laps at 75-80mph, even HPDE1 can be that way at times.
Regardless, glad to see you're on track, Mid-Ohio is on my to-do list.
The Proteges are quite fun to drive stock. Just don't expect the car to ever be very fast, and you'll be golden.
Well, I did a Hyperdrive a few months ago at Mid-Ohio (my frist one) and it was certainly WOT and not a parade lap speed. And that's why I put "race" in quotes. I know it's not real racing. But I'm sure if more of my Mazda friends started doing the Hyperdrive they would get more into HPDE's. I would like to do HPDE1 but honestly, I can't afford it. Tires, wear and tear on the car and the weekend fees are pretty steep. That's why the Hyperdrives are perfect. $60 and you can sit in on all the HPDE classes and run the track WOT with an instructor. Can't beat that.![]()
Don't get me wrong, I think hyperdrives are great, they really bridge the gap for folks. But once you jump into hpde, its hard to settle for a hyperdrive. I may have exaggerated a bit, but I know in our hyperdrives there's always a train forming around the course and everyone is really only WOT on the straights, making it tough to string nice corners or even get a full lap down. Is passing permitted in your hyperdrives? I don't believe they allow that in our region. Either way, at least you're out on track; be sure to take car of that FS though unless you're itching to join the KL train that much faster
Take some video next time out (if you haven't already) and post it up. Always fun to watch someone elses track experience.
