How loud will this be?

:
Yellow 2003.5 MSP!
I would like a nice exhaust note but not sound crazy loud or ricey.

This might get a little confusing so ill try to explain the best i can:

First, I'm keeping the OE S-pipe, J-pipe and mid-pipe.

Second, Im going to cut the piping after the first bend, right after the resonator (this bend aims right to where i want the exhaust to exit)

Third, I'll exit the muffler just before the rear wheel.

You think it'll be too loud? I have a BIG ASS MUFFLER btw that i got for free but im thinking that the two cats and resonator should keep the excessive sound under control.

If i got a catless mid-pipe do you think it would be really loud?

I got this idea from another MSP i saw on youtube and one of the posters claimed quicker spool up time because of less bends.

it probably won't be loud, but you will hate the drone inside the car because the exhaust will be still under the car, if I understand you right.

Side exit exhaust is not that common but I've seen one in NJ in person and it comes out nice depending on the muffler but it won't be any louder then 3" Vibrant TBE I can tell you that since I have Vibrant TBE and mine is much louder.

Personally the midpipe is the first thing I would get rid of if you are looking for more power.

definitley on the wishlist but right now am only going for what i can afford.

the muffler will be under the car but the exhaust tip will bee peeking out from the side. I dont think it will drone but im not sure. What do you think?

The Vibrants sound nice. I can live with that lol.

How loud do you think it'll be with a test pipe and side exit? (the muffler tip peeks out from under the though to keep from droning)

Ok I see what your saying, It prolly won't be too loud. The turbo pretty much acts like a muffler anyways.

If your keeping the stock Catted midpipe and pipe that has the resonator then adding a different muffler, you should be ok. Most of the sound is absorbed by the Cats and resonator anyway.

i have a side exit exhaust that is catless and has one resonator and no muffler and its not loud at all...with both cats and the rez. its gona be real quite.

yeah i dont think itll be too loud if you have the OEM midpipe and a resonator. i personally wouldnt run no cats and no resonator though, im not a fan.

Hmm, maybe I'll bump up the catless midpipe on my to do list. It has been on my to do list for the lomgest time but the prices have gone up recently and I dont know why!

Do you guys know where i can get a used one? I think I'll make a post on the marketplace forum.

VIDEO CLIP!!!

Also, even if it isnt loud on the outside, does it sound good in the cabin? This is all for the music to my own ears and my passengers not so much to show off to the general public. I mean, dont get me wrong, if i can show off-- LET IT BE KNOWN! but i dont have much to show off at the moment lol.

Ok ok, i was think the same but i didnt know a turbo could act like a muffler. How does that work?

yeah i cut my resonator out and have straight pipe from cat back and it sounds good!!! and isnt loud at all except when i want it to be!! lol

personally i wouldn't bother cutting anything. id just get a catless midpipe or make one. easy enough to find a friend with a welder, cut out the two cats and weld in a $5 peice of pipe. just seems like too much effort for your stock exhaust.
keep your resonator though. catless cars already sound broken.

I'm running a catless 3" exhaust now and damn that s*** of loud. I'm thinking of adding a resonator to tone things down.

side exhaust isnt loud at all, i was running one for a while, the exact thing your saying you want to do, is what i did lol
took the stock exhaust, cut it, and then welded straight pipe onto in, then cut the tip flush with the side skirt, looked ok and it sounded good at low rpms
but at higher rpms, it would go really quiet lol prob the stock piping, but i had no cats, and one res...and yes i was turbo at this point

ive been meaning to take a video of it but i have no camera lolol. and yeah u hear it in the car too hahah. that and the rest of the car is stock but the exhaust shoots fire. duno why ..its just does..im assuming cause im catless? duno hahah

So im buying an sls test pipe from a guy here on the forum but there is a wierd bend in it and im kinda worried its going to point in the worng direction. After looking at all the pics of the new ones for sale on the internet, they look straight but this one has a bend. but then again, when you look at the OE mid pipe its got a couple of wierd ass bends so im thinking it'll balance itself out. They guys had said it worked well with his corksport cat back and he said the mid pipe and the cat back are suppose to be OE replacement so im thinking that im just tripping myself out. Anyways, here's the link of the test pipe im getting tell me what you guys think.

Ahh nice. I wanna run no cats but stock res too. Im buying an sls catless j mid pipe off of a guy here on the forums. I like the low RPM grumble and i like the fact that it goes quiet at higher RPMS cuz i drive alot of freeway and dont wanna be all loud, you know, sounding like im hitting 120 but only going 65 lol you know what i mean! haha

Haha sweet! That and the fact that it's running really rich. My little bro's WRX used to do that when he was catless and ran rich. My dirt bike does the same thing too. Personally I think it looks pretty cool but thats just me.
