Smallest rim/tire size that will fit on P5s

Hi all, so I'm looking at getting some winter tires for the car, and am looking for second hand winter tires and wheels. Does anybody have any experience with 14" rims on P5s? Do they fit? I currently am running 195/60/15s on alloys, and know 16's are stock, so Im running a lil small already, but is there anyway I can go down to 14 and save some cash?

Any recommendations for tire sizes? Oh, and ive read about bolt patterns for rims...I thought it was just 4 bolt or 5 bolt, but Ive now seen some posts saying 5x100 and 5x117 bolt patterns, so Im not sure what is correct!

Any help would be much appreciated! :)

I believe old 1st gen eclipse/talon 14in wheels will just fit over the calipers. PM CTt3P5 I am pretty sure he runs 14s in the winter too and will be able to help you out. And our bolt pattern is 5x114.3

To the OP how do you like running that sixe rim? I have a set of 15's here that I've been debating on putting on

Good memory. ;) As Flash said the 1g eclipse/talon 14" wheels will fit. Specs are 5x114.3 bolt pattern 14x5.5 +35 offset and 67.1 hubbore (no hubcentric rings will be required as this is the same hubbore of our cars). I picked up a set of four from a local junkyard for $100.

The recommended tire size is 185/65/14 (which I have found have quite a few options for winter tires and they are cheap) but 185/70/14 (what I am currently running) will fit should you find a used set somewhere. Here are some pics of mine for a nice visual.

I also believe that the 14" rims from a 94-97 probe/mx-6/626 will work as well. Haven't checked for sure but I know the bolt pattern is the same, hub bore???, not sure.

Thanks for the information guys! I tried some ooold (early 90s) American Racing rims from my brothers '90 Jetta that he had lying around (they had a multi-bolt configuration, worked as both a 4 and 5 bolt rim), and it didn't fit.

That said though, I was fortunate to find on my local UsedOttawa site a gentleman just traded in a Protege5 to buy a new 3 and was selling some 195/55/15's mounted on rims for only $250, so I'm going to pick those up tonight, barring any *serious* issues with the tread. I figure even if itll last for one winter the $250 is justified...certainly better than $700!

Thanks again!
