Let's see some Mazda3 5-doors

Yes sir!

Halo your car makes me want a set of 19's for next season. They look great! I am not sure how slammed I could be on them though. You're on a pro kit right? I have my H&R coilovers all the way down so they probably couldn't stay that way.

yeah I'm on pro-kit. there's no reason you can't have the same drop you have now. The outside diameter of the tire should stay the same anyway, you just have a lower profile tire. If you went with a wider wheel then you have more issues. These are 19x8.5 and the offset is 5mm lower than my old RX8 wheels, so I am about 12mm more towards the fender which did induce some rubbing issues. I had to massage the front fender liners with a heat gun and I still need to roll my rears as they take little slices off my tires if I hit a bump during an aggressive turn. lol

Yeah I am familiar with tire sizes and whatnot. I was looking at some 19x8 +45 or +40's with 225/35/19 tires to keep the width more manageable. I don't need wide and poking wheels, just flush. I am curious about how the car would sit on a 19" wheel compared to the 18" wheels it is on now. I noticed in your older pictures that you had more wheel gap before the new setup. Unless it was just the angle of the pictures. It's not happening for a while anyway. I don't have 2 grand to blow at this moment in time.

Damn! That's a nice lookin' car you've got there, halo0! Most impressive...

The actual wheel gap is the same, it sometimes looks smaller because these are pushed further out because of the extra width and offset. You could also go with a 215/35-19 tire. A friend of mine with a GTI has that size on an 8.5" wide wheel. Gives you a little more space if you have a low offset. I kind of wish I'd gotten that size.

Good to know man. Thanks for the info. I get confused when people try to say that cars will sit at different heights with different sized wheels on them. As long as the tire size is right your outer diameter will be the same. I guess with more sidewall on a smaller rim you'd have a little more flex in the tire and that might make the car sit a hair lower than less sidewall on a bigger rim.

Nice 3, taillights are not my style but everything else looks good!
how do you do in your autox events in your 3?

Also what do you have for suspension modz.

Thanks Tungsten6 for the compliment! I think people eiether like or dislike the tailights. There isn't much middle-ground. I like the outsides but I think the backup lights are too big and I'm not satisfied with the way it looks with the stock backup lights. So I just live with it for now...

I do well locally autoxing my 3 in Street Touring (ST) class (I've won the first four events and am obviously leading the season points with two events left to go). However there isn't too many people running the season in ST class in the Nebraska Region like there are in other regions. We usually only have about 2 to 4 cars in ST at each event so it's really not saying much... Plus, there aren't any Civics that compete in ST around here and that seems to be the car to have in ST.

I bought the forged SSR rims and Hoosier tires that you saw on the last page and recently ran in FSP class at the Midwest Regional event to try them out. I was faster than I was in ST but not very competitive at a national level. I COULD BE, but I'm not willing to do the things I need to do to make my car more competitive. It's still my daily driver--102 miles round-trip everyday to work and to be competitive you pretty much have to make it your race car only and make modifications that would make the commute much more "uncomfortable."

Tigermack (see previous posts) has made his 3 VERY competitive, even at a national level. He would be an excellent person to talk to about Autoxing. Make no mistake about it, the 3 is a very fun car to autox!

BTW, here's my suspension mods:

1. Vibrant Performance strut tower brace bar
2. Yellow Koni Sport adjustable shocks/struts
3. Mazdaspeed lowering springs for Mazda 3 (Eibach Pro-Kit)
4. Mazdaspeed rear camber arms
5. Racing Beat swaybars--front AND rear
6. Racing Beat front swaybar endlinks
7. Mazdaspeed 3 rear swaybar endlinks

haloo, i've basically got the same color on my 05 SP23... I like it but i haven't done anything to it yet... got a list a mile long but got bills out the ass too.

and Ntimd8r... I personally like the tail lights even with the massive back up lights.

Just curious, but why did you change to the Mazdaspeed 3 rear sway bar endlinks when you changed the swaybar?

I went with AM links (AWR's) when I did mine, but here's why: OE rear bar = 20mm. Racing Beat rear bar = 27mm. It would tear the OE's to shreds in no time at all.

^ My OEM rear endlinks held up just fine to the RB bar for a couple years until I sold it, including a fair amount of autoX... and are still holding up fine to the stiffer Tri-Point bar and several track days... I don't see a reason to upgrade them unless you want adjustability.

And since this is a picture thread:

^ damn, front is LOW! Looks sick! Need to drop the rears a little more though to make it perfect... ;)

Thanks man! I think I can get another 1/4" or so out of the rear if I remove the rubber spring cover that I used from the stock springs. I already have the adjustable spring perches removed in the rear. Spacers might make the rear look better too. I am trying to get some 25mm spacers and a fender roll. The H&R's don't go quite as low as BC's but I am very happy with them anyway.

Here's another picture I like from today's shoot.
