What have you done to your MSP today?

yeah im not feeling it. looks good though. but of course, i didnt like the cf fenders or the lips but its all about what makes you happy

I'm on the 'like' side of the fence. Its unique and very well executed for its mission. Its not supposed to be a street car, but I know we're gonna see it in magazines and at car shows. Well done Jon!

called to make appt to have paint and body work done to the msp, if all goes as planned i should be dropping it off on the 17th
getting lip, front bumper, rear bumper, and hood repainted. Getting rock chips on side mirrors fixed, getting dent and scratch on rear quarter panel fixed. total estimated price: 1560.00

I admire the creativity, Focus. I'm kinda old school and don't understand the fascination with CF (beyond lightening the car for race purposes) but I like the way you worked it into your scheme. Much better than solid CF fenders on an otherwise fully painted car. I'm not sure about the blue calipers and lugnuts with the gold hub and titanium paint though. I'm thinking a bright purple might have worked better. Just one more unsolicited opinion though. Good on ya for being tastefully different!

Had something awesome happen tonight. Went out to a local "all cars" meet with Travo83 in Frederick. Was expecting a lot of rice and jackasses, and wasn't disappointed to some degree, though there were some really nice cars there and some chill guys. As we pulled up, the entire crowd looked over at the MSP and started to congregate around it, even before I had even gotten out. As soon as me and my GF got out, they were all like, "damn man, thats a sick car," "I've never seen one of these before, they didn't make many." yadda yadda yadda. It was definitely a proud moment. Nice to be recognized for what something is.

I get that too at meets out here but not the whole congregating thing so much but random people and groups no larger than 5

not too many cars much less mazdas in laser blue but lots of titanium cars out there so i have to disagree my friend lol. Plus everyone knows blue always comes out aheadh of gray (think civil war lol)

I had a guy pull up next to me at a stoplight in his older f150 and was like "hey man is that a mazdaspeed protege?" And when I said yeah he was like that's awesome hit it one time for me. So I did lol. But what I love even more is when I'm driving down the road and another msp flys up next to me and is so surprised to see my car. Or when a es or dx or p5 for that matter pulls up next to me and asks me what a mazdaspeed peotege is and where did I get it

I love the look on peoples faces after they ask me how much my "bodykit" cost and how they have never seen a "bodykit" that fit that well especially the bumpers when I tell them this is all stock and it is not a "bodykit", it is lips and sideskirts

focus. i actually like what is going on there. very unique. it takes a lot of hard work to do what you are doing. i think some people are just jealous.
and more pics please!

and msps are becoming more and more rare with how many crash all the time. (not usually their fault either)

What did you end up doing to the hood?

I drilled out the rivits on the original latch, waited about 5 months for xc to send me a new latch with out holes drilled out. (that seemed to be the hardest part for some reason) I lined up the new latch to fit the factory measurements, trying best still fit the holes drilled by xc (didn't want a bunch of holes make the area weak), test fit. After the test fit i had to move the latch from the inside of the hood to the outside and adjust the release on the car. Then i used an epoxy on the latch and stainless steel bolts, nylon locking nuts and washers, some red thread locker and cut the old latch end plate to use on the inside part as extra washers.

here's an in the process pic, i don't have the rest loaded yet

I also had to widen the the top ban bottom sections so the latch could go into the correct spot
