The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

James i like the idea, could get big but aslong as the money goes to charity it's not like it's wasted if you can't keep up with the blog

+1

And I'll start by giving you $1000 to paint them hot pink, sucka. Haha

What if you got a dish type wheel and designs or images could be painted onto them as well instead of just a color. This might give more options for people to want to bid on. Say an image of Hello Kitty or what not on the dish that would draw more attention than just a bright color. Granted this would cost you money up front to either get dished wheels or find some way to mount a dish onto the wheel. Maybe something that kinda snaps onto the wheel gripping around the lip to stay on.

Thanks for the feedback! I don't know how much money it would raise, but I guess some is better than none. I just think some people would be interested in seeing how the 'war' plays out and then following what I do after they are painted some ridiculous color. I don't go to a lot of meets, but the car would get more exposure than a typical car. I'm even thinking of finding an extra wheel at a junkyard or something and painting each spoke a different color--then set that wheel out next to the car at shows and meets, with flyers on info about this whole thing...

At the same time, it would be during the winter months, so not many car shows to go to while they are actually on. The next hard thing would be setting up the Paypal account and keeping track of donations and what color they chose...I think the blog would be the easiest part, and painting the wheels is no trouble at all.

I like the idea of painting unique images on dish style wheels, but that is extra cost for me---and I am NO ARTIST haha! But imagine a sweet set of airbrushed wheels--now that would look cool and unique!

I've been working with a guy in Texas that owns DPTune.com. He has 1st and 2nd gen speeds cracked. As well as 1st gen regular 3's. Had the car tuned in the spring, sent it back for a couple times for fine tuning. So far so good. Speed limiter at 118 is gone, Rev limiter reset to 8k. Drive by wire is on a 1:1 ratio between the loud pedal and the throttle body. It still is a bit rich up top, but I would rather play it safe. Marlon, do you know if Jim is using Mazda Edit or Piasini software? They are the only two I know of for the 3's at the moment. Attached are the before and after dyno, and a top speed run. Not to much hp was made up top, but there is a big difference in torque. Like the gain of 20 at 2050rpm.....

dude thats awesome... you gonna be at the cookout, if so i wanna talk to you about a few things...

No doors + Big ass side mirrors = Win

Cool pic, Jasen. Maybe we can go for a ride on Saturday. I want to feel what it's like riding in a car without any doors again. My buddy in HS had an old Wrangler without doors and it was fun as hell. But now I feel like I'll fall out of Wes' Miata when the top is down. I'd be rocking a 4 point harness in your Jeep fo sho!

I have some super sweet 3 point harnesses that came stock. I think they will hold you in just fine. (cabpatch)

Evan, you're gonna fall out cus you sit like a nerd. (hi)

Haha! I do sit like a nerd. Straight up in the seat.

Jasen, you just drive safe in that beast. I don't want to see you on the news being ejected from your Jeep. (Now I sound like your mother)

Let me just say this.. my work bag and clipboard sit on the passenger seat when I drive and they are not restrained. Not buckled in, tied down, or what have you. They do not move an inch even when at highway speeds. Groceries, pizza boxes, and other such things have been placed in the cabin area and nothing as moved anywhere close to being ejected. Just let me ask you this... when was the last time you supported yourself in the car by leaning on the driver door?

I think he meant that it would 'feel' like you're gonna fall out. I had my sister's tennis bag up on the shelf behind the seats in the Miata with the rear window down, and she was convinced it would fly out, but it didn't budge. You'd have to get air to launch something out of the car.

Well, actually I had my tool box slide across my rear seats in the 626. They're even dished out for your butt on each side, and it's quite heavy. Albeit I took a corner so fast that I scraped my mud flap, and the car in the other lane swerved all over the road because he didn't think I'd make it, lol! I also ended up taking my sub out of the 626 because it was flying around in the trunk. It probably weighs 40+ pounds and it's carpeted, but it wasn't bolted down. I can guarantee you don't take corners in a Jeep like I take corners in my cars.

I kept up with the group during the Mohican Fun Run taking corners just as fast and felt pretty planted the whole time. I was even egged on to take them faster.

^^You must have a different Jeep than most of the SUVs I've seen. It feels like we're gonna roll if we go around a corner even a little bit fast in my buddy's Blazer.

Are you able to at least double the "suggested" corner speed signs? I was able to triple one...
