Front license plate options

So, I've got to get a front license plate. The only options I'm seeing are the OEM plate mount, or the towplate.

Personally I'm not a huge fan of the towplate, but it seems to be growing on me over time.

Opinions?

if you don't want to spend the $80 or so on a towplate, and you have some tools, you can make your own like I and several other members did. I used some scrap stuff and made mine for free

Or you could ziptie it to the lower grill area

I made mine based on Sport6 and Oaklandopen's design. It is really a fairly simple DIY

edit: pics are failing me now...

I like what you did with yours, jri4. It lifts the plate up higher than mine and seems to be a sturdier setup. The bottom of my plate goes just above the foglight

Yeah, it sits up nice and high-sort of fills in the gap between the foglight and the headlight. But mine was not sturdy and fell down after one day of driving--so I put a "stopping" pin into the plate as well, now it is bolted up and, if it does indeed drop, the pin stops it from actually dropping crooked. Hope this makes sense.....

I used blue loctite for the main bolt and bracket bolt, then a rubber washer for the bracket, so I don't think mine will be moving anytime soon

I did think about drilling for a smaller bolt like your pin, but I was weary of the amount of surface I had left to play with on that main bolt

I bought the RHO plate. I had some money in my paypal account so why not? No holes in my bumper! And no (five-0)

I might do the same since i'll be installing a fmic. But I don't think my plate which is located in the middle of the bumper is going to affect air flow to the IC by that much.

I love the towplate. It breaks up the monotany of the plate in the front. I HAVE to have mine on my PGT, but I got creative with it. Had to since I don't have a plate bracket.

i'm also in tx - and get concerned about getting pulled over for no front plate.

mobius120487 - where did you purchase the suction cups...?

Put the plate in the middle. Side looks like dookey.

I tried the windshield trick with my Mazda6. Still got a ticket.

I didn't press my luck fighting it because I found out under DC law you can't have any reflective surfaces in front of the plate (such as a windshield) and that's an even more expensive ticket if you get busted for it. Other juridictions may vary.
