we've used seafoam in both our cars (the 3 and versa)...the first time sean used it in the 3 a while ago, it filled our entire apt. complex up with smoke...funny!

I was able to go get a can of Seafoam tonight, and will give it a shot tomorrow. I'll at least get video of it smoking on my phone. I'm nervous because I know it'll be bad; 60,000 miles and a piggy-rich MS3 is gonna be bad news bears...
Evan, I'll probably look at that Lucas Oil FI cleaner as well, then. I take it you insert it somewhere different and it performs a different task than Seafoam? Hard to do? Thanks!

For the lucas oil FI cleaner, pour the bottle in the gas tank. That's it. I experienced a huge increase in MPG as well when using it.
I might try that stuff my next oil change...

Is the Lucas treatment similar to the Marvel Mystery Oil? I tried out a bottle when my lifters were ticking really bad in my 626 and it hid the noise completely. I wasn't convinced that it fixed the problem, just that it hid it. The guy at Autozone recommended putting a few oz in the gas and the rest of the bottle (directions on bottle) in the crank case oil around 50 miles before an oil change. For those 50 miles it was totally silent, and it came back on the next oil change. I did get more mileage, which I did not believe at all.

For us, if we want to smoke out the neighborhood, we could just start up Kevin's FC. We haven't had mosquitos in months!
But back on topic, Seafoam will work great, but at the same time, if you have sketchy seals anywhere in the engine, kiss them good bye. So... 95% of the time it'll work... that 5% tho is always lingering whenever you use any caustic, yet helpful chemical in your engine.

Sorry, I should be more clear, the Lucas product is simply fuel injector cleaner. Like Ivan said, it just goes in your gas tank and runs through the fuel system. So easy even a dame can do it.
I was at Autozone sunday while Kevin was buying new spark plugs just brousing the aisle of all the additives and myster cures. Wow, there are a lot of "instant fix" crap there. They even have a bottle of stuff that fixes warped/cracked head gaskets and blocks? Come on, now... Haha
James, I'm sure you're MS3 will be just fine with the Seafoam. There are a lot of people who use it on the forums too so now worries, mate.

I'll never run Lucas FI cleaner. I tried it when I worked at the parts store and it made my car overheat. I was driving down 71 to Jegs and white smoke rolling out from under my hood. Seafoam all the way.
Seafoam in the fuel tank acts as an injector cleaner as well.
I've used Lucas FI cleaner in all of my cars since my VW Rabbit. Car had 285k miles on it and it worked wonders in that...
...but as I said... adding chemicals to your car can help or harm it. YMMV.

I'm not trying to pick a fight and I'm not endorsed by Lucas but how would fuel injector cleaner cause your car to overheat?

it says right on the bottle that it can make your car run hot. most injector cleaner is designed to heat up and blast the carbon out of the fuel system. for some reason the protege didn't want to run that hot. it hasn't done it since then.

I've sold all that junk. When I ran the Advance Auto stores I tried all of them. Zmax was a good one, seafoam is what I prefer, it's all about the same. Mostly kerosene

im keeping the newest mods quiet til the cookout... haha

Immediately took them to MotoMotion. Great guys up there and just 10 minutes away from my house. Said they could easily bore them out--unmount tire, bore, remount tire, and balance--$60 a wheel! Takes 4-5 days because they are backed up...
I need 67.1mm hub bore, correct? Just wanted to double check, so if I screw up again, I can still call them and tell them!!!!!

Yes, 67.1 is correct. All Mazdas have a 67.1 hub bore; that I've ever seen, anyways...
