HKPRO5's Supercharger Build Thread

Hmm im at sea level thats why. lol I dont think it would b esafe to run at 12lbs just yet. lol

oh ill check my email.

is there another way to limit the boost?

OK so I went and unplugged everything and cleaned up all the connections on the intake manifold side and the connections to the fuel pump. No dice.

I did take two videos.

First vid is just taking off and hitting that point where it goes lean

Second vid is going past the lean point and up to a higher RPM. notice how it hits the lean spot then works itself back to rich?

what RPM does this start?
what position is the throttle?
any kind of check engine light?

It can happen at any rpm. Its more on the throttle position. if its more than half it happens. If I cruise it up to 5000 rpm then no problems. but if i hit on it (like going up an on ramp) then I have problems.

No cels

this is also when the SC is off.

Im going to try and do a boost leak test tomorrow. Get that out of the way.

does it happen when the supercharger is on?
How is the afr effected if you go WOT with the supercharger on?
How is the afr effected as you slowly climb with supercharger on? less then 50% throttle

FYI hair spray works great for couplers to get ride of boost leaks

I have a few ideas, but just want more info before I say anything

if you add in an intercooler, you could lose some boost as a way to turn down the boost :)

It happens with and without the SC on.

It doesn't happen if I used under 50% throttle.

Yea, indecided to keep the intercooler. For that reason.

then I think it could be the ecu going into closed loop mode. I don't know much about your ecu, but most ecu's after a curtain throttle will switch from open loop mode to closed loop mode,
Open loop, takes information, MAF, IAT, AFR, and adjust the map accordingly
Closed loop, follows the stock ECU map without regard to any readings

this would make perfect sense if you went pig rich, what is stock 240? to 440? an 80% increase, with stock map, that would be pig rich. but to go lean. maybe the corrected MAF settings are messing with the ECU when it enters closed loop mod causing a lean condition.

this is one of the reasons why I chose to go with megasquirt in my ford probe it had this closed loop mode and it didn't care about any MAF readings.

when I first installed my supercharger kit, I didn't do anything for fuel, becuase the MAF does not understand pressure, it understands airflow, so with the supercharger its just more airflow, so it would add more fuel, to a point. 4 psi seemed fine. another ford probe guy did this with a turbo at 5psi.

The SSAFC is only activated when it sees boost. That's why I believe this is not related to the tune/ afc. I also just got it tuned before this and there was no problems.

Who said the ssafc is only activated during boost? It's always working. You can tune out of boost also. I'm sure you can tune from -24hg to about 15psi

Hella horns. (non german)

well i gotta say they look awesome
how do they sound?
could you make a quick vid when you get a chance?

edit
how are they mounted and did you paint them red or did they come like that?
