NEMOC Random BS Thread

Where there are at least a hundred people with this exact set of modifications (Catback, intake, power axel tune) me being the only one having the problem is REALLY pissing me off.
Maybe you're the only one that is intelligent enough to notice it.

I've felt some lag on these 90+ degree days in my MS6 (totally stock). Mostly during the first few miles of driving. Once I'm on the highway it runs fine.

Hmm, I'd expect an issue with the EBC (or even MBC for that matter) allowing too much boost at low ambient temps, but not with high. That's odd. Where is your boost gauge tied in?

If the clutch was slipping, the load would decrease at the particular throttle position and the boost would drop significantly. Hmmm.

I had a problem with the MSM losing a crazy amount of power under similar circumstances (including over boosting) and it turned out that my spark plugs were ruined. Of course I'm also running a wee rich...

When I get the slipping issue, the car revs fast but builds power (feels SO NICE for that 2 second period), hits 24 PSI, then the RPMS drop about 200 and the boost falls back to ~15. The car then accelerates more slowly from their. Because I build power all the way to 24 PSI before a slipping feeling, I am calling BS on the clutch causing the over boost. I think the clutch is just giving out at that power level as now that I am locked in at 20 PSI, I dont get this situation anymore.

As for intelligence, what scared the hell out of me is the tuners told me it would be fine to just put an MBC in place of the factory EBC. Luckily I though enough ahead to remember that they have to limit boost in the upper RPMS. So if I had done it their way, I would be pushing 18PSI when the car shouldn't be over 15 PSI....that could have been comical as well.
It amazed me no one else thought of this parallel idea.

Chyler...what you describe is what I am used to from my STI too.
However this car still does this after you are on the highway for a 1/2 hour going 75 MPH.

Understatement of the month.

btw... I looked over my plugs and I think I am going to replace them here shortly. Any suggestions?

I just use the cheaper NGK's, since I've been going thru them rather quickly with the bad tune. I recommend NGK Iridiums .

The Power Axel tune... is that like a piggy back, flash, or what? I'm not too familiar with it. I wonder if the ECU is realizing that it's over boosting then goes into a limp mode afterwards.

Typically OEM wires are the best for the application. I know on the Proteges, there was a tendency to loose performance using aftermarket wires.

Didn't have to mow my lawn last weekend but I have a feeling I'll be mowing it twice in this upcoming week. (gah)

Any impromptu meets coming up? I got contacted by a fellow last night in Shrewsbury who found my CL ad for the snow tires and is very interested. He's willing to pay for shipping but I figure if something is going on, I can come up for a visit and save him money. lol

August 14th condowarming! :) Might be some wrenching going on too.. we'll have to see if there's interest.

But it's not really impromptu....

hmmmmmm.....wanna come pick them up? That would only give you 3 days left there. lol

Damn....forgot all about that. Posted in your thread and just may stop in. Shrewsbury isn't that far and I'm sure I could meet him halfway from your place or somthing like that.

Haha! You know it man.

This is the shop. Looks like a regular house from the front. ;)
