Aftermarket Amp to MS3 Stock Subwoofer

So I have the option to go for a 300rms mono amp for almost nothing and I was wondering if it would be a good idea to hook it up to the factory subwoofer in my car. I have no intentions of pounding this sub. My goal is to take less bass out of the doors for less rattling (my car is s*** for that), but make up for it but upping the bass levels of the tiny factory sub and the sub alone! If it blows in time, it's cool..

Is it a good idea if there is not much trouble involved in terms of labour and costs?

You will gain nothing from that. the "sub" is a 6" piece of walmart-grade garbage. you would honestly be better served routing the sub output from the blose amp to a bigger sub. nothing you can do will make that piece of s*** sound better.

also, your door rattles will not diminish, because blose, knowing that their "sub" was a 6" piece of walmart-grade s***, set their amp to always send bass to the door speakers, in order to compensate. if you don't believe me, then fade your system fully to the rear and then play some music and listen to the front speakers. You'll still hear lows coming from the front doors. This cannot be changed without getting rid of the bose amp.

now the only way what you propose *might* work is if you run the external amp to the sub, turn down the bass via the CD player (less bass to door speakers) and then compensate via the gain setting and bass EQ on the amp. but i have a feeling it will sound like s*** in the end.

This is exactly what I had in mind, but I have a feeling you're right..

If you really want a bass sound I would recommend getting a whole new sub and putting in the back. The factory sub is "A piece of walmart s***" haha, but it does what it was made to. The Factory sub is more of a sound filler than an actually sub...

where is the stock sub located i couldnt find it in my car lol

If you have one, it is located under the passenger seat, the stock amp is under the driver seat. I believe only the GT models come with it though. (not positive though)
