broken welding on strut

I hit a nasty bump driving through some dark streets at night and after fixing my smashed cat and transmission mount, i found another problem. the welding on my right front strut has snapped off. The extended warranty I bought with the car will cover it, but they will have to replace it with an oem protege strut and not my BC struts. Which would also mean I might ave to replace the other side so my front end matches and that wouldn't be covered, and would also cost around 700 or so. not something I wanna do. I'm playing phone tag with Tim over at BC racing, but I thought I would post something up to see what anyone else had to say. You guys know a lot about these cars and always offer tons of help and great ideas. Thanks.

tell the warranty company that you want the money, not the parts. then, get in touch with BC and see what a replacement part would cost.

Is it possible to weld the endlink tab back on with structural integrity? If not, do what nja said.

that looks totally repairable. just the sway bar endlink tab. should be able to weld it back on without issue. (didn't I see somewhere on here someone was reinforcing an endlink mount, I can't remember what it was on) I'd check with BC about if the heat can cause issues with the seal or something, but if nothing else, they should be willing to help get it repaired.

+1 to the ins company paying out for the cost of the covered parts.

thanks guys. I talked to the warranty peeps and they said they can't fork up the money. I may have found a way to have them replace the bc strut though. we'll see how that goes on monday when they get back to me. Also, mike at BC told me they sell a pair of mounts for 100 bones and they have them in stock. He has seen the pics and I'm assuming he knows what he's talking about cuz he works there. Does that sound right? so would i be able to take the bottom of the strut off and replace it with a new one with the new endlink tab? i'm still learning about all this stuff as I go.

You may need longer endlinks if you're lowered a decent amount. Also, more crappy suspension products... when will people learn?

ya, my car is pretty low. I haven't had any problems yet except for this one bad one. My plan is to upgrade the headlights and hopefully get some foglights soon so I can see better in the middle of the night. Though I have no idea where to start as far as headlight or foglight upgrades go. I don't know how taboo it is to post those tips on this thread, but if anybody has any tips could you PM me?

That is more then likely your problem. It just finally gave out. Your putting more strain on the sway bar witch is putting more strain on that tab. Im sure the other one is bound to brake down the road at some point if you don't fix the problem.

I plan on replacing the tabs sometime soon with some upgraded ones mike at BC mentioned. They're supposed to be reinforced so this won't happen again. Does corksport make upgraded endlinks? I need to replace these as well and BC doesn't have any. Anybody else have any suggestions on endlinks to get?

contact BC. email them those pics and they should send you a new sleeve and endlinks. Theyve done it twice for me and even sent me an extra one for the driver side this last time, even though nothing was wrong with it

did you have to pay for those? i contacted them and sent them the picks and they wanted 100 bucks for the pair of mounts and they said they didnt have endlinks

hey funkalicious. i'm not part of mocc. bc sent me replacement mount thingys for the bottom of my stuts with reinforced endlink tabs. as soon as i get some money together i'm probably gonna take your advice and get those endlinks off protege garage.
