Mazda Protege Owner Photos

at that ride height, i would guess you are riding on the bump stops, too. so, it doesnt really matter what springs you're using. well, unless you have your illumina's on 5's.

Set @ 4; 5 gets stupid bumpy/bouncy on uneven highway stretches. And I'm definitely not sitting on bump stops. For sure still utilizing my springs. That extra 1/2" that I'm lower than you are, really is not going to make that much of a difference. If anything I may be putting a bit extra stress on suspension components, vs you. But that's it. I promise, my suspension is very nice & stiff, great balance, no understeer, great grip.

You're acting like I'm slammed, lol. I can still see the top of my tires from that top angle in that 2nd pic... (boom04)

*Edit, actually looking @ your last pic, you look to be just as low as I am judging by wheel gap. And that's even with your 16" wheels vs my 17"; you still have the same amount of wheel gap...

yup. if you know anything about roll centers and roll couples, any lower on a protege and you actually make it handle WORSE than stock. but, i digress... way too much for this thread too....

on topic- (see attached for a protege at ideal ride height :D)

I miss when my car looked like this.

Mazdaspeed B-spec springs
03 MSP wheels
AWR 21.5mm rear sway

Now, it's a rustbucket.

hehe, mines getting close to that. my rear bumper started rattling last week because the mounts at the fender wheel wells have rusted enough to start letting go.

I'm gonna look into getting my 2 rear quarter panels replaced in the fender wells. Just not looking forward to seeing the price quote for that... (cryhard)

I'm really scared because I see the beginnings of cancer in that spot on my sedan. There is a bubble in the paint about the size of an eraser head there.

I had the same, and upon further inspection it was wayyy worse than it looked. Sorry to be the possible bearer of bad news.

yo its time to remove it now before it just eat the whole car. sand it out, bondo, sand, sand, primer, sand and go buy a color match spray can(with the clear included). Do it now. i did it on mine and its a lot better than rust trust me. And its actually not bad. i guess nobody can see it and i painted the whole border of my quarter. some overspray but what can i do, buff it maybe. if you want a better result, i guess you have to paint the whole quarter(with a paint gun).

I did mine with a sandblaster, then fiberglass for the holes, then bondo, then primer then rattle canned (the type that doesn't need to be cleared) my poor attempt at blending is the first thing I see everytime I look at the car now, but no one else ever seems to notice it until I point it out. An yes, no matter how bad a job you do painting rust will look worse.

Not sandable. Mine needs panel replacement, it's too far. I would sand away the entire fender well, lol. (wedge)

yeah, mine had a prett big hole in it...but i didnt feel like spending 700$ to have both quarter perfectly repaired. I heard rust will still reappear anyway.

For the job i did, it will probably last until next summer.

Not if you do it right. But eventually new body panels rust too, if you think about that. Any metal body panel will eventually rust... Unless you live in AZ, CA, etc... And you can coat it right and do it so where it won't return for a long time. The point of replacing the body panel is to remove ALL rust so it doesn't just come back as it does with a bondo/primer job.

sleezer looking good. i say just take off the center caps and either paint them black by hand and leave the chrome or spraypaint them all black and possibly hand paint the logo red.

Its in the works. I think im gonna go black logo and leave the chrome. I originally thought red logo on black but I dont want it to look like im rollin on steelies with a red lip when Im at speed lol
