So it's no suprise I am getting a CEL with no cats, but it is really bothering me and I am looking for possible solutions. However, everything seems hit or miss. Is there any proven solutions out there other than buying a catted r/p or d/p?

You can try picking up some anti fouliers from you local auto store,I know a few guys
that have used these.

remove the light from the CEL. I know a couple of people that have done this after modding the crap out of the car. Is the CEL just for the exhaust? If yes, then I would try the anti-fouliers (spelling?) If it's caused by multiple things then I would just take the light out.

For gosh sakes, don't take the light out unless you have some other kind of real time monitoring like Dash Hawk, an AP or something! Those CELs cover a lot of really important and possibly engine killing conditions besides just whether your cats are present or working.

There is a diode fix thread here on how to kill the CEL for running catless if the anti-fouler does not work. Or you can get a CEL reader and manually remove the CEL each time it comes up.

But you really want to know about the possible engine killing CEL's that might show up if you have some part of the system fail with possible very expensive consequences if you keep driving dumb, fat and happily blissfully ignorant of the problem!

Even if I do use a fouler kit won't the O2 sensor eventually go bad sooner than later, thus leading to replacing it or not functioning properly permanently?

Here you go boys & girls: $5 & 15 minutes of your time = no more CEL.

Or this one:

You want to alter the resistance reading from the Primary O2 sensor in order to tell the ECU, you are cleaning your exhaust normally. Whether it be by changing the electronic signal coming out of the O2 sensor, so the ECU gets a lower resistance reading; or by moving the O2 sensor further from the exhaust stream, artificially providing a lower resistance reading for the O2 sensor itself. You can do it either way, by splicing the wires and inserting a resister and capacitor, or the easier, and non cutting of your factory wiring harness way, to make a non-fouler* (this is how it's spelled).
