i do. what's the course like?

Not sure the exact course, but Bill runs a MTB TT every other week and has lived in the area his whole life, so I'm sure it's something fun.

I don't run, nor do I MTB, so I'll be there taking pics/vid most likely.

i've never raced MTB so i'm curious to see what it's like. i usually do trail riding which is rocky/rooty and a bit more technical but i know a lot of the MTB races are on "smoother" courses with people on hard tails who hop off on the technical sections

put on the stock black shocks with the mazdaspeed springs on the miata last night. looks good! rides much nicer. response still decently sharp. waiting for an alignment... running no rear bar still, going to see whether i need to put in the stock bar or the rx-8 bar.

Definitely depends on the coarse. Most of the guys that race ride evertying, including the technical stuff and at a fast pace. It all depends on the level (or bracket) that you race in.

Mmmmm, MTB. I was just talking about taking the 29er out here soon.

Or change out the gears in the rear end so you aren't at 4k RPMs at 80 mph..

We proved on the drive home from VIR that I get better mileage while traveling over 85 mph. Following Marlon and Tom, we were pushing triple digits thru 3/4 of WV.

I'll have to look into it. I think that's the weekend that I'm camping. There's a 12hr / 24hr MTB race about an hour from me that I was thinking of getting a team together for.

Well his MTB TT course is chock-full of technical stuff, and he's not a fan of anything easy.
does he ride full suspension or hard tail? i know racers are usually the weight weenies with their hard tails spending tons of money to save a few grams. i only have 1 option - a stumpjumper FSR

Graduate on Monday, back working on Wednesday. What a life. At least I eased back into it, 2 day work week.

Nice. All my friends call me nuts for preferring to ride my 29er. Single speed, rigid frame. There are days where I'll ride circles around those guys.

a 29er would be nice around here with the rocks. now a single speed rigid 29er doesn't sound like very much fun but the 29er aspect is nice :)

The hills around here aren't nearly as big as what you'd find in CT, but if I go a bit south, we have some pretty big ones. There are only two times that I have issues with hills. 1) if I'm not warmed up yet, and 2) if there's someone ahead of me going slow. With the single speed, I have to keep up a bit of momentum to be good to go. If I slow down, I'm screwed.

That's the old school thougth process. Most of them are full suspension. I am one of the only guys still on a hardtail out of the group I ride with and that is mostly because I can't afford a new bike right now. If I could I would be on a full suspension in a heartbeat.
