The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Aww man, do we have to bring that s*** in here?

Change of subject; so how was everyone's weekend?

I crewed for the #69 SpeedSource car and we wnet P2!! Also Machiavelli was a tire runner for the entire team, so he gets credit for a podium finish too! We had a great turnout 2 VIR, great parade laps, despite the GTO's not being able to handle the turns or follow the lines the pace car showed them.

All in all a great weekend, good beer, good foods and good friends!!!

Other than cars and coffee Saturday morning I basically sat on the couch the whole weekend.

Marlon, I'm so bummed I didn't get to come. I watched the race on the tele though. Glad everyone had a great time and made it to and fro safely. You kids and your driving all night stunts...

Jasen, what time is the cars and coffee thang? I might come down to molest your sexy MS3.

8am Saturday mornings.

I am not sure what time or if I will be able to make Mazdafest. I was assigned a last minute job at a place next door to the downs in Kentucky. Since the Derby is this coming weekend they want installed and open by Thursday evening and I am receiving their parts Wednesday night. This means I will have one day to give a new restaurant a crash course on how to use their registers before their busiest day of the year. It will be the equivalent of staffing a Walmart on Thanksgiving with people who have never worked there before and telling them.. good luck with Black Friday.

went to the OSU spring game then the Crew soccer game on saturday. Attempted to in stall my gt spec parts but notice my driver's side sway bar bushing bracket sheared off. put in my new sub and reinstalled my radio so it looks somewhat professional instead of a hack job

Columbus Crew FTW!

So, I requested off June 18 and 19 for Grand Am at Mid Ohio
The current plan is to come down after work on Friday the 17th, then spend all day Sat and Sun at the track.

This may be an unaskable question, but is it okay if I leave, or do you have to camp there in the Mazda Corral overnight? For example, I'll just drive home after the race Saturday ends and the festivities wind down, but come back early the next morning on Sunday....

Oh, and what are the crowds like? Nobody was at the NASA event, but I expect much larger crowds for Grand-Am--but watching the VIR race, I didn't see too many people...

so it's definitely starting to look a lot like spring out there with all that green! i'm going to look forward to the summer!!! window's down FTW! (and sun roof)

there is a thread but i don't know of any real plans. I'm going over friday night but i can't leave columbus till 8ish. I would also like to know what the plan is.

Believe me, I avoid drama like the plague, but I didn't bring it to this thread and my attempt to clarify things apparently fell upon deaf ears, so here is my last attempt to clear the air.
Magnum, I'm not sure where you're getting your information, but I'm sorry we bug you. Let me clear the air and inform you of our intentions so you are no longer bugged. We are making no attempt whatsoever to replace the OAC. In the wake of the fallout from the OAC, of which we only recently became aware, we are organizing ourselves, locally and informally. I believe the perception that we are trying to usurp the OAC comes from the fact that us "Louisville" (actually Bardstown (Tiff), Georgetown (greatdane, mrsparks), Lexington (Brad), and Radcliffe (oh hejl no)) OAC members are the only ones who have been participating lately. Organizing locally is something we should have done a long time ago, but it doesn't mean we are trying to exclude anyone, or that we aren't still interested in a regional association. By the way, you are more than welcome to cruise down from Cincy (our last two meets, Georgetown and Lexington, were closer to you than they were to me in Louisville) anytime. It won't bug me what you call yourself.

^^^ LOL, why are you in here anyway?

sarcasm ---->

you -------->

You guys act like you're so benevolent to the Mazda community of the region. (Where is this hostility coming from, dude? We're just trying to start a local club)You say you've organized so many events but only one that I know of outside the Louisville region (Mazda Thunder)! (I never said we had organized a lot of regional events, I said we were the only active OAC members)Before you guys seemed to take control there were regular events all over the region: from Cleveland, to Cincinnati, to Lexington, you name it.(This idea you have that we are somehow in control of something baffles me...did you read my post?) Louisville is nearly two hours away from me. That's a little too far for small get togethers for me.

If you guys want to create a local club, there's nothing wrong with that. (That's all we want, as per my post) All I'm saying is don't take a regional organization (like OAC was attempting to become) and turn it into a Louisville or KY group(We're not, it's all right there in the post).

we were at the nasa thing and it was eerily nice to not have people everywhere....i wish it could always be like that! the crowds will be big...especially with the arca truck series (thank you nascar :()....but not as big as an indy weekend....

what does everyone else have to say about the crowds?

you don't have to stay at the corral overnight...we live in columbus and commute back and forth each day

Change of subject; so how was everyone's weekend?

sat around friday and saturday with a migraine :(
worked sunday night....

(and the toddler will be at the grandparent's house...even more fun! yay!)

Mid-Ohio has designated camping aeas, I have no issues if they don't.

In the past I've driven back and forth to Mid-Ohio. 1.5 hours each way. Unfortunately, the MSM doesn't get the mileage that the P5 got, so I've got a hotel room reserved down there.

I spent all weekend fighting the RX-7. First it was the brake rotors, then the calipers, etc. I got everything done that I wanted to finish but now it needs a wash badly. I'm also getting a clunk from the left front when turning sometimes and it looks like the camber is much greater on that side than the other...
