New guy on board

If you haven't already, I recommend shifter bushings. I feel much more comfortable and confident with shifting after installing mine. Engaging gears ian't as vague and it just feels more connected without the stock rubber bushings.

I've looked at that, seeing as the stock shifter has a lot of throw. One reason I haven't yet is because the assy is spring loaded, quite heavily IMO, to "rest" between 3rd and 4th. I've been wondering whether the shorter stick (less leverage) might make the change from 4th to 5th and then to 6th, just that much more difficult.

Oh wait a minute.....I replied based on a conversion to the shorter stick. You're referring to just bushings I assume......hmmm. Kinda thought that if I took the assy apart, I'd just put in the shorter stick also.......thoughts?

I have the short shifter and bushings replacement and in my opinion there is no added difficulty in those shifts. To me its easier. just my opinion though.

Did you fit it yourself? If so, how much trouble was it/how long did it take?

Yea I did it myself. Hardly any trouble at all. The pin on the drivers side is a pain due to how little room you have to work with but nothing a little muscle wont fix. Took me about a half hour to do all the work. I was working slow and taking my time though.
