I've searched and found NADA! Is there a way to disable the panic button on the key fob?! I opened it up to just isolate the button from the contact, but it doesn't work like the one for my Ram. I hate that thing! I can panic all by myself :D

Can't you just open up the little clicky thingy and break the contacts to the button? I assume there is a circuit board in there, perhaps dick around with your soldering iron a bit.

this FOB i think is a click-type and not a contact type like a tv remote control is, so you'd have to de-solder the momentary switch

i kinda feel your pain cuz i've set mine off accidentally at times...but at the same time i will never do that cuz i don't want to F up the only FOB i have left (lost my other one, and the key)

I'd like to disable it without damage. The fob for my Ram has a 1/4" x 1/4" piece of plastic between the button and the contact. That piece of plastic has been there for two years and it's never slipped.

The Mazda fob isn't made the same way. It looks like I'd have to hurt it to disable the function. I was hoping someone knew a way to make the car ignore the button-press.

Haha I just experimented with it to see if it could be done.

I cut a plastic fork, one that has deep grooves from the mold. Then I just cut to size and placed it over the panic button, placed the rubber cover over it and then snapped everything back together.

The rubber button cover will stick up a little bit when you first put it on, and will probably stick out of the cover a tiny bit more but the panic button is now rock solid and won't depress. I am sure that you could play around with it so it won't stick up at all more than before, but its a quick fix.

Probably could also find a better material to start with, but its what I had on my desk to MacGyver up.

I would hit the panic button every once in a while but never really consistently that it bothered me, but now that it was as easy as that fix I am going to leave it in there so I won't hit it.

Edit: I am requesting to be a vendor so I can sell plastic Forks for all!

I'll take a dozen, how much for shipping ????

A capital idea! I have some plastic utensils here, but it looks like the arc of the handle isn't sufficient, but I believe I have some at work that will do just fine! There's just no substitute for American ingenuity.

When I carry to many items in my hands I find my car panics, I too, would like to tame it.

I it nice for finding it in a crowded mall lot though

Man, my keys hit it when I pocket them, it goes off if I squat to lift something. One time I guess my keys were "just right" in my pocket -- all I did was walk toward the car, and the d@mned alarm went off. Like I said, HATE THAT!!

My Ram was just as bad... We were moving some glass counters at work -- every time I'd squat to do the proper lift, the thing would go off. Must've gone off ten times that afternoon. That one was easy to fix, and one of the first mods I did on the new Ram: isolate that d@mned contact!

As for malls, I stay away -- ridiculous prices. The mall's good for lusting over the hotties and that's about it.
