What have you done to your P5 today?

There are two clips you must detach that go from the AC unit. One is under the drivers side foot area and the other one is in the passenger foot area. Each cable is connected to a white wheel so you can't miss it. Kind of a PITA the first time you do it but after you do it once you won't forget how to do it.

I had to go relook at your pics, the SP20's in Aus have climate control, win! :p the 1.6L & 1.8L versions have the manual version... just thought you guys all had climate control too :(

exactly how does that work? go in from the back with the socket set up or pull the surround a little bit and get at it that way? i gotta paint mine up with my wheel paint and see how it looks. i like a little contrast between the surround and the temp control faces.

last time when i did my headunit and hardwired my radar, i had a small 1/4 drive ratchet with like a 5.5mm socket and threw in the philips head bit in that socket and i pulled the surround out a lil and then i angled the surround to the right to remove the 2 screws on the left and then vice versa for the other side and it was alot more simple than doing the whole AC cable thingy.

heres a link to pictures of where the screws are located.

some might say it seems more complicated to do, but in my experience doing it, i found it a lot easier and faster :D

Replaced the stock stereo with aftermarket, took all of 5 minutes at best and i didn't have to take any dash apart, that was awesome. guess it makes up for the lesser joy of changing the EGR valve

- if anyone can tell me, what is the vent tube from the EGR valve supposed to connect to?, or is it just supposed to hang in the fender - the directions were sort of cryptic on this, and well pretty much every other step of the operation as well

Emette, here ya go. You will find your answer in post 2 and if you want the cliff notes....yes, you leave it unconnected.

I have this on my list of things to do also.

got around to replacing the rear brake pads, those things are so much harder then the front, just because you have to fiddle with the adjustment screw and the e brake line,
so its tight when the ebrake is on but not too tight when its off lol
well after that i went for a test drive, let the car warm up a little, got on this road thats pretty much a long straight, gassed it and holy s*** my car flies haha
hit 14-ish psi, it was ****** awesome

The blacked out interior looks good. I did mine an easier way though, just swapped the parts from the sedans that had black interiors:

All you need to finish yours matt is the black gauges... Really completes the entire look of the blacked out interior.

Mine might be going back to normalish... Have the CF on the outsides CF, then the middle make it a brushed aluminum look.. Gauges back to normal w/ DaveB rings, the door sills that light up blue. I'm just not sure what I want to do with the cupholders. I think that'll be brushed aluminum look too.

As far as I know, DX don't have tachs, LXs do as do ES but ES have white faces like P5s

So LX, and the KPH is badass. lol.

I don't actually know. I bought it off a member on the local board. I just know it had the tach and was black. Oh and apparently it was taken off when the car only had 3km on it (that's what the odo read)... So I just switched the gauge faces..

so like DJ DUB said, it's prob the LX... And KPH for Canada lol... If you want it, when I change it up I may consider selling it.

CT3P5, thanks for the info and link, i did have it right, just wasn't to sure about it, the directions say to remove the throttle body, but if you have a 1\4 drive rachet and 12mm socket you can get under it to get it undone, I found there wasn't enough room for the wrench to turn, it makes getting the lower coolant line connected a little more difficult but not impossible, spray the inside of the lines with a little silicon spray and they slide on pretty good.

Gave the car its first hand job of the year. Nice hard, deep scrubbing to get a 1/4 of the salt out... maybe a clay bar and wax this weekend?

put up my headunit for sale :D
and also got some new stuff for the protege5.
also decided to stop modding it. because im planning on picking up the Blue STi Wagon!!
Centric Front rotors/hawks hps from tirerack.

oh almost forgot, and unlike the directions say, i also didn't have to remove the engine mount or drain the antifreeze, i put a pan under the car and the hoses were the last thing done, did the upper hose first, and then the lower one off of the bypass tube and i lost maybe 1 to 2 cups of antifreeze

lol, yeah, there are proteges with black handles factory. Well, paintless handles I should say but they look black.

A dx, the cheapest protege alive, has black door handles. Why any of you would want to downgrade is beyond me.
