Do not believe all you read. I have learned a ton of stuff that i thought was good info and was bad. and the other way i suppose.Yeah. I think I'm going to end up just buying a set and just putting on the RSB only for now, mainly because the front is a huge PITA. I've been reading bad things about our shocks with springs and how they're weak, I don't know how true this is but I may just hold off on doing springs until I can get the Koni Yellows with it as well.
Now I just need to figure out which endlinks I want to get for the RSB..
My next upgrade is going to be suspension and I'm going to be doing sway bars first. Would getting a Hotchkis rear sway bar only be a good idea? Or should I get the fronts along with it at the same time.. I guess the only reason I'm asking is just because the front is a huge pain to install.. and I am just wondering if any of you get tremendous lift oversteer with just a rear sway bar installed..

You may not need endlinks yet so hang on. I am about to test out the AWRs fitment. These are more for the coilovers I have to install yet, than the Cobb springs
The front bar, Everyone said pita. so i never tried it. My son in law said it was a tight fit but not a pita.
I have been on the Cobb springs for about 25000 and no problems. They have been very good to me and i have not blown out any shock/struts.
Most units have a range of travel that they function best in. So as long as you do not change the geometry drastically you will be ok.
Some folks seem to have had the stock suspension fail. Blow seals on the cartridges.
The Cobb are supposed 1" lower and are a little bit stiffer than stock.
But start with the rear bar and work your way along as you feel you need to. It is going to be a fun ride! best of luck with your car.
I hate n/e ohio! (just made a thread about 3 out of 4 of my rims are bent!)
i would recommend either, both are quality products. My Cobb are just a little low for my steep driveway apron but not really and issue otherwiseand really nice performance wise. i would not recommend more than that though. The dampers might get a little stressed being out of their sweet spot. i have been pleased that mine have not blown as i was worried for that. I have maybe misrepresented, i am still using stock sway links. The AWR are still on my table next to the Mazdaspeed camber arms!Oh I agree. And I still might go with the Eibach Pro Kit because I dunno if the Cobbs are too low for me or not. A 1 in. drop just seems like alot and I know the Cobbs are stiffer than the Eibachs aaaand I live in Northeast Ohio where the roads are pretty.....bad. Haha.
I guess I'm just afraid of the stock endlinks breaking and AWR endlinks aren't that much either. I suppose I can give it a go with the stock endlinks and see how it goes..
It's about that time to buy sway bars, my conclusion is that I'm not going to get springs because I'm getting 235/40 Star Spec tires and I hear they'll rub if I lower my car any.
I'm going to be doing a set of Hotchkis sway bars both front & rear because I'm also getting a CP-E rear engine mount so if I'm going to be removing the front sway for that install anyways, I may as well put in the Hotchkis front sway bar.
235s won't necessarily rub. depends on what wheels you are on...? and if your rear fenders are rolled...?
you should definitely go for a new front sway if you want. but installing a rear MM does not require removing the stock front sway.
If you got rx8 wheels and are on stock suspension, you wont rub with 235s
Oh. I guess I forgot to mention I'm riding on RX-8 wheels.. and no my fenders aren't rolled.
It does not, correct if I'm wrong but installing a front-sway bar (I believe) requires the removing of the rear MM?
the fronts should be fine even if you are lowered. if you roll the rears you will be fine there too. i'm running RX-8s with 235/40, 6mm spacers all around, and nearly maxed on H&R coilovers. i have no rubbing in front and no rubbing in the rear with a good roll. although i have yet to put people in the back seat!
i thought you meant removing the sway bar in order to install the MM... not the other way around! my mistake.
trust me, go RSB only. I have both the COBB FSB and RSB, and the FSB wont shut the **** up. It clunks and squeaks, and I've tried everything. Plus, it adds to the understeer.
how do you live in Dublin, and not drive in rain ?Just installed my Cobb RSB with new Hankook Ventus tires, (215/45/18). I've been doing quick lane changes at freeway speeds and notice that the car fells quicker. I have it set on soft, (35% stiffer than stock) and will be on track in April. I'll adjust the RSB between morning and afternoon sessions to determine what the ideal track setting is.
I had no problems with my end links. The adjustable sway bar links were about another $85 but did'nt need them. I'm at 22,000 miles on an 07 MS3, and never drive in rain, so don't know if that makes a difference or not.
