Threw a rod need help!

Hey guys, I threw a rod last night and it blew a hole in my block. I need to find a shop that can do a rebuild for me. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I would imagine for almost the same money you could get a new engine, that would work better then a repair. One of the regular 3s uses the same 2.3 DISI engine.

I would weigh the pros, cons, and costs of each option.

Nothin' a little JB Weld and some duct tape can't fix. (2thumbs)

Ouch! are you running more than stock BOOST? just curious as to what mods you have done.

hmmm.... a lot of things made of aluminum can be fixed...... i've seen aluminum small block heads that have had a piston smacked into them or a valve drop that have been repaired.....


that said, a lot would have to be considered before going that route.

The regular 3s do not use the same DISI engine. In fact they aren't direct injection at all. One main thing the regular 2.3 doesn't have is oil squirters for the cylinders.

mazdaedit is the tune I am using. No Mani was waiting to do a big turbo and forged internal. Guess I'll be doing the internals ahead of schedule. Sport 6 is correct about the rgular mazda 3 engine.

Is that what you went with JChouin? ANd I am not rebuilding using the block that is on the car now for obvious reasons guys.
