Ricktalife's EPIC fails and maybe a build thread too

Waiting on quite a few parts to come in the mail...and I can't really accomplish the important tasks without them :(

-Recirculation fitting for BOV
-ATP WGA
-AWR motor mounts and inserts
-Radiator brackets (needed for FMIC install)
-Shifter bushings (okay not a priority lol)

The ATP WGA and radiator brackets arrived in the mail today! The WGA will be on hold for a little bit, but now that I have some brackets I think I'm all set to install the FMIC, but I need to get my friend to help me and it has been like pulling teeth lately to do so.

Two things I am still unsure about for the front mount:

1. A slim fan was provided in the setup but I was told I will need to make my own bracket, any ideas? This may be ghetto, but if worse comes to worse I guess I could use some zip ties or whatever random stuff we can find just as a TEMPORARY fix. I do not intend on leaving it like that if we have to stoop that low haha.

2. I only noticed 1 tab on the top of the core that would hold it to the crash bar. Is that sufficient? I understand the pipes will be connected so that may help balance the core, but I want to be sure it doesn't sway too much.

edit: Here is a pic.

Got the recirculation fitting in the mail today. What kind of hose should I buy to connect the BOV to the intake? Silicone? Any suggestions where to get some good quality stuff rather than a pep boys special?

my BPV is just connected with reinforced rubber vacuum line. i cant imagine its the best, but it works just fine, and a 1" reinforced silicone hose will probably cost you a fortune.

Well I need 1" hose despite what kind of material it is or else I will probably get the turkey. I have no idea where to look though. Guess it's google time.

So ur going to be relocating the maf with this set up? Looks like the ion fmic kit. Shouldnt be too hard to install will only take some time routing it. Zipties will work fine for the spal fan. Thats the same way im going to install mine.

No MAF relocation for me. For now I will continue to run the dual setup until I get some silicone hose for the recirculation setup. I'm not sure if he took the pipes from a premade kit or not but the hot pipe will snake back over the core and up where the stock fan and SMIC would be. The cold pipe will not use the CAI hole so I can keep my Injen. Really for me it is the optimal setup. I can't wait. :D

nice, make sure you take pics of the install. im planning on routing at least the coldpipe through the SMIC hole on my eventual setup

The fruits of my labor for today... an immoblized car. LOL.

^^ That is my dad's 1929 Ford Model A Rat Rod. He bought it last year and it was already converted to a Rat, but he put the white walls on and is doing some electrical work to make turn signals and such. Not all that fast really, but it's cool as s***.

nice stuff. by the way - for your 1" ID flexible tubing, id just go to lowes or home depot. they probably have 1" ID PVC reinforced flexible line for like 40 cents a foot, and itll do just fine until you order some reinforced silicone (which i saw online for like 40 bucks for a yard). it would be in the plumbing area.

oh snap i didnt notice the vac block there. Not digging that too much. try hiding it better. Stealth ftw! Everytime i see that steedspeed mani it makes me want to rip the stocker off. Holy crap ur dad is straight baller for that car.

Yea I found a website with some 1" silicone for about $8 per foot I think. But I still need a fitting to weld onto the intake so I'll keep the dual setup until then.

dam, how did you mount your vac block to the sway bar like that? that looks nice

I had my friend tap some screws into it. At first it seemed a little ghetto, but now I really like it and I think it is the most convienient place for my setup.

Well I had no intention of hiding the block, no matter where it would be mounted. I want a little bit of flash in the engine bay, but nothing over the top so I'm sticking with the block, the oil cap, and maybe some hood dampers. I would like to keep most of the other stuff black or blue.

Yes my dad has some interesting taste in cars. He is really old school and has had several corvettes in his life, and still has one in storage that is an Orange Stingray with T-tops. The motor was inop when he bought it and he sent it out to a machine shop but he decided to put the project on hold since he wanted a car that would run when he bought it lol.

Well I got all the pipes and s*** on and placed the core where it will go, but the bumper won't fit on. My fog lights will probably have to come out as well. My dad is totally against doing anything to the bumper, but I don't think I can drag myself to undo what I've spent the entire weekend doing.

hmmm... i havent found many IC kits that require removing the fogs or doing more than trimming very small portions off the bumper tabs. look up a bunch of install threads for FMICs as a starting point, lots of people run into problems (like this one) and maybe they posted a solution.
