Formal Introduction

I would change them out all at the same time. It's the same job regardless if your doing springs or shocks/struts. You will need a alignment after either anyway. If you've got the dough, do both. You will be saving on labour anyway.
+1...listen to bruce!

I agree with Bruce. At 60k you're getting close to the end of their life anyway, and as far as the fronts go, you gotta take them off anyway.

Also, since you're high mileage, you could consider a coilover package instead of separate springs and struts/shocks.

Man, you guys are spending my money quickly. I doubt I would have anything in time for the spring but you definitely have me thinking again. Maybe I'll do my HIDs are the spring meet.

I don't, please elaborate.

This is Oleg putting my shock back together wrong...

This is me helping Oleg put it back together wrong...

On the test drive, went over the first bump and it was a rather loud clunk that sounded like metal against metal. I ask Oleg, is this normal? His response, well.. no... but keep driving, maybe it'll go away.. Keep driving.. clunk clunk cl-clunk CLUNK. Umm... Oleg????

all you do is take photos.

:p

Haha, if only this were true. Sadly I do not have many photos of me working on all the cars over time because of this. Many have visited the Altspace garage aside from NEPOC. hehe.

Oh Jenn, that story is hilarious. Many have heard a similar one from me. Long story short...my friends who were mounting the springs onto the shocks while I dealt with frozen LCA bolts were unaware that they put the springs on backwards. So my Integra ended up looking like this. Hard to see, but the front is touching the ground. Compare to the back. LOL!

Thanks guys, you all have me pricing out shocks and springs now. My fiance is just going to love you all for this. (spin)

So I've actually been shopping around for springs and shocks to lower my car. (the Cape meet really showed off how bad it needs it).
I'm thinking Tanabe GF210 springs (1.2" drop) and either Tociko or KYB GR2s for the shocks/struts. The springs are around $160 and the shocks are around $280. Another option for shocks is Bilstiens but they run about $400 for the set and that is really stretching my budget. (Planning a wedding at the same time.)

Any thoughts on a setup like this? The coilovers I've seen end up costing close to $1k and I will never use them to their full benefit. I don't track the car I'm just looking for a sportier set up and better looks.

Just do the springs to lower the car if you're not looking for much in terms of "performance" and handling. I only have lowering springs on my car.

And see if you can get a used set. I have Oleg's (Astral) old springs.

My shocks are up past 60k miles so I thought it might just make more sense to get it all done in one job.

I think if you're looking for the most cost effective way to lower your car and your original shocks are fine, then just do the springs. If it's not broken, don't fix it! :)

Just rolled 54K last night in the 8 with original shocks and lowering springs...
