2003 Mada6i
I just signed up for the Cape Run so I also wanted to introduce myself. My name is Justin and I drive a 2003 Mazda 6i. I bought the car new back in 2003 so now I am living the life with a paid off car. This is only the second car I have ever owned and it is the first one that I have really done anywork on myself. (My other car was a 1977 Ford Granada, hence the screenname). I may have met some of you back in 2008 when there was a spring meet in Brighton. I look forward to any local events. I'm always looking for excuses to get together with people.

I have somewhere around 60k miles on it. I've added some 17x7 Enkei Evo5s with Toyo Proxes4s, a Magnaflow catback, Fujita SRI, some clear markers and swapped the grill out a few different times. Here are some pictures:

Thanks for posting the intro and welcome again. She sure looks pretty. Funny thing, my parents had the exact same car, 1977 Ford Granada in 4 door. In fact I took my drivers test with it. So when I read your name I instantly thought of that car in the CCR thread.

Any plans to lower it a little? We have meets all the time, many of which are impromptu so keep an eye on the BS thread. ;) Got plenty of hands, tools, and experience between many of us to do just about anything.

Cheers!

Welcome to NEPOC. Granada, that brings back memories of driving those NEW when I worked at Hertz.

Nice looking car. Come down to some of the NEPOC meets. We just had a dinner get together last nite. Next one is CC or spring clean meet when Mark sets a date.

Welcome Justin you will have good times because these are a bunch of great people (but Bruce)lol sooo Welcome

lol....you guys are too much.

Welcome and hope to meet you at the upcoming clean meet.

Thank you all for the warm welcoming.

The Granada sure does bring back memories. Funny thing about that car, it was older than I was but I loved having it. It was in great shape but I had to give it up when I grew up and needed a car that I could actually (safely) take on the pike.

About the lowering. It is something I have always thought about doing but I don't have the tools or experience to do it and paying a shop to do it just never made sense to me. The car could definitely use one so we'll see what the future holds.

I took advantage of the warm weather last weekend to get the snow tires off and now I am just crossing my fingers that I didn't do that a little too early.

I look forward to meeting all of you.
Justin

Now I'm going to have "A letter from camp" in my head the rest of the day.

*sings*

Hello Muddah! Hello Faddah! Here I am at... Camp Granada!

That one was for our retirees in the house.

You are in luck! We have Bruce, the suspension master. Toss in Oleg, as long as you don't distract him, and you have the Wonder Twins of suspension installs.

On a serious note, we as a group have lots of experience in spring/suspension installs and there is no need to pay someone to do it.

Oops?

You've been hooked up enough lately. I am trying to spread the love around. >=P

Welcome Justin!

Mazda6 suspension is a breeze. The rear springs come off with like 2 bolts. The fronts aren't too bad either. if you pick up a set of springs and show up to the cleaning meet on 4/17, you can have the car lowered for the cost of a few beers.

Should I be concerned that my original shocks have 60k miles on them? Will the lowering springs wipe out whatever life is left of my stock shocks? I had thought that if/when I did my springs I would end up having to do my shocks as well. What do you guys think?

I would change them out all at the same time. It's the same job regardless if your doing springs or shocks/struts. You will need a alignment after either anyway. If you've got the dough, do both. You will be saving on labour anyway.
