THIS GI THREAD IS OFFICIALLY OVER.
SUMMARY: WE HAD GOOD GROUP INTEREST BUT UNFORTUNATELY THE MANUFACTURER CHANGED ITS BULK BUYING RULES AND THE VENDOR WAS NOT ABLE TO COME THROUGH WITH HIS GB PRICING.
IF ANY VENDOR CAN DO IT IN THE FUTURE FOR $510, THIS THREAD DOES INDICATE THERE'S AN INTEREST AT THAT PRICE POINT.

AH WELL, TIME TO MOVE ON.

GAUGING INTEREST

Reply if you would partake (and have money!).

I've been noticing its kind of tough to get a used TMIC without paying a lot of cash. I'm trying to gauge interest in a group buy. How many people would be interested if we could get a NEW ETS 3.25" TMIC for Mazdaspeed 3 and 6 for...

$510 shipped with in the US

Shipping to canada is TBD at this moment (will find out soon). Units would be purchased from one of our forums main sponsors. Money would be paid to them (not me) and they would ship directly to you. This GB would only be open for a short window of 2 weeks (regardless of whether it is a success or if it fails). We would need 5 buyers and the sale would go through right when we had 5 buyers. If there happened to be 5 more buyers ready before the GB closed, they would put in another order, etc, etc.

This GB would be for people who have the money and are ready for purchasing...not for people waiting for funds (sorry). I personally hate the hassles of GB's and would like to make this one (if it starts) short and sweet.

This is for a 3.25" core.
3.5" core, add $40
3.0" core, add $30
black powdercoat, add $60

THIS IS A THREAD TO GAUGE INTEREST ONLY.
KEEP AN EYE OUT IN OUR MAIN SPONSORS SECTION IN CASE THIS GB GETS OFF THE GROUND.

Moderators, can we also place this in Mazda6 & MAZDASPEED6 (MS6) marketplace too? I didn't want to double post without permission.

I take it you have familiarized yourself with the rules. Thank you very much!

Sorry, is this implying i have broken a rule or am I close to breaking a rule? If you could be so kind as to explain, i would appreciate it. The last thing I want to do is break forum rules as this forum has been very good to me.

no no, quite the opposite actually. You've set up a GI thread which is perfectly fine, and clearly plan on getting vendor status if it goes through. You're good.

As for double posting it, I would suggest posting a thread in the 6 section with a link here so everything stays together.

ohhh. I want one bad, just not sure if im ready to take the plunge and do this yet.

I'm interested. The cheapest I've seen them new is at rpm, $565. Not sure if that includes shipping.

Some places sell for $565 shipped. This would be a $55 discount. Most used ETS TMICs seem to go in the $450 range after shipping...I think $510 for a new one is a great deal.

So by "interested", do mean YES you would buy? Reason I ask is that I am keeping a mental count of how many are 100% sure they would take part in this. When I think the number good, then and only then will I ask our vendor (who is one of our main sponsors) to start a GB for us.

The number of 5 and price of $510 has already been discussed with them. *

Its now a matter of finding out if we have 5 guys who are in for sure.

*Edit: Turns out our vendor is still negotiating hard with the manufacturer to buy in bulk. Sorry.

Yes, I would buy at that price, unless a good used one comes up between now and then at about $400 or less. Holding my breath for that one.

Fair enough answer, thanks.

PS....take a breath! Trust me its pretty hard to find one that low!

and is it for all ms3 years or just new models?

This is for the gen1. Guys have researched that the 3" core will work for the gen2 but its up to you to confirm (if it so happens you have a gen2). I hear, 3.25 and 3.5 have hood clearance issues with the gen2. I don't own a gen 2 so I cant say for sure.

By the looks of it, you have a gen1 so you're all good. Let me know if you are 100% sure and have funds so I can add another one to my mental count.

ETS confirms the 3.25" will fit the 2nd gen however the shroud needs to be moved to the top of the TMIC so it's flush. ETS mentioned they will do this for free with each order as long as we specify that it's the 2010. If not, you can grind the weld and move it up yourself. It's pretty easy. From my understanding on the 2nd gen you don't really need the shroud since we have a scoop. SU's TMIC runs without the shroud on the 2nd gen without issue.

So with a 3", can the gen2 guys leave the shroud on? Thanks for this info

I asked about that and ETS could not confirm. It's safe to say the 3.25 will fit though. ETS has sold about 5 of them to 2nd gen guys. I was going to order direct from them but if we can get a better price in GB I'll hold off.

This looks promising considering the thread has only been open for 5-6hrs (wait til people are off work and have a chance to find this thread!). I hope you can wait a few days to see what happens.

I'm with you though...If nothing gets off the ground in a week, I'm gonna guy on my own as well. Trust me, I'm not down with long drawn out GB's either and I'm tired of searching for a used one.
