2000 Mazda Protege ES
I got bit by the RWD bug last year, and bought a 07 MX-5 Sport (5 spd). Original plan was run it in CS (MS-R build), but then decided to try out the new STR class.
So far, I've got some coilovers (Moton$!), RX-8 sport front swaybar, 17x8.5 wheels with 245-35-17 Toyo R1R's, and a stock-type LSD.

This weekend will be the first event with the new Wheels and Tires, so should be pretty fun. There's alot of talk about MX-5 vs S2000 for the STR class, and there are a bunch of people with some serious builds going on. Should be a fun year and a fun class to compete in. Being a new class, there are tons of unknowns and the amount of bench racing on Miata.net is rediculous. I had to get back to the Mazdas247 roots.

BTW, the Protege is almost back to a stock like form. I am so done with working on that thing. A couple more fixes to pass Inspection and it's off to North Carolina to be my brother's new "family" ride.

Man, it's too bad you can't make it out to Dixie this year. Awesome turnout.

We've got our first local event this weekend and there are lots of people running STR here too.

And, of course, I am prepping my "unknown-car-for-the-class" MR2-Spyder. :D Hope to see you at an event some time!

Man, I can't wait to see what the both of ya'll have up your sleeves :D

Yeah, I knew this would be a popular class when I first heard about it. The turnout at Dixie sure proved it.
I couldn't do the Dixie tour becuase of travel for work. I am planning to do the Mineral Wells (Texas tour) at the end of the month, and then I'd like to hit one of the Blytheville events later in the season.

I got my Good-win race muffler on today. All set for the event tomorrow!

Nice! I'd love to build a STR S2000... if I can ever get rid of my Protege, I will! That might require some hard work (probably as much as you did or more).

I'll be running some Washington DC area stuff (Autocrossers Inc., which was absorbed by SCCA many years ago but still runs a separate series) in STR with my '99 Miata Sport. The car's not hard-core prepped but it's still a fun car to drive.

For WDC SCCA events I'll run a STS '90 Miata that's a lot more prepped. Got no desire to run divisionals or tours or anything like that though.

I like the Miata better than the S2k for a cheap autox car... parts and everything ends up being much less expensive!
