>> 2010 Mazdaspeed3 HEADLIGHT BAKE & PAINT!!! **Photos & Video!**

Nod, but I wouldn't want pre-cut film. I'd go with the sheets so it leaves more room for error. Especially if you've never done vinyl before you'll want some extra material.

Just want to say that looks sick. Nice job. so just wondering i just got the blue speed3. What do you think if i paint my lights to match the body kinda like what honda did with the fit? also i noticied that you were repping decalfx alot so do they sell the fog light overlays? Again nice job (bowdown).

I think if you can match the body color it'd look pretty dope. But also take into consideration the rest of your car. Are you doing anything with the emblems? I think the headlights would look good black along with the emblems. Black on blue looks nice. Hell, black on anything looks good.

Updated pics: Matte black vinyl fog light trim installed and blacked out front emblem installed.

Emblems I scuffed with a 3M pad, 3 coats of plastic dip, then 1 heavy coat of dupli-color clearcoat.

The fog light surrounds I used this process...

I did the same for my Emblems. The plasti-dip worked out well. I don't think I popped enough clear on them though, I got a couple of scratches. Probably going to redo them this weekend.

What adhesive did you use to get them back on? I used 3M auto tape but went a bit thick on it so they bulge :(

im a noob when it comes to DIY... what is platic-dip?

Plasti-dip is a rubberized paint that you spray on to whatever surface you like. It works pretty nicely on emblems/exterior parts. I got the idea to do my emblems in it from the VW guys who use it quite a bit.

It requires very little prep work which is a nice benefit. Here's what I did.

Sanded my emblems with 400 grit sand paper lightly to rough them up (trust me, you won't get the chrome off without a chemical process or a sand blaster).

Spray 3-4 light coats of plasti-dip, keeping the spray 12-18" away from the object.

Follow up with 1-3 good coats of clear.

Voila... You're done! Darkspeed3 and I have both done ours and they look good.

Here's mine, I didn't go as thick on the clear as I should have but they still look pretty decent.

thanks for the well written how to,

sorry for the thread-jack :D

nice work! I've just painted my Headlight and put some of LED and angle eyes inside. I'll share pics with you. If you also paint the rims in black, it looks nice.

I'd really love to see pics of the car from a further distance, can you guys do that? I have a black mica 2010 also, and would like to see the look fully before committing...
