What have you done to your Mazda6 today?

oh snap, that just plain sux evolved! I say take it back and demand the right tail light!
My MS6 is now officially in the shop getting hood & front bumper repaint & winshield replaced.
BCM aftermarket paint aint gonna be the same... :( :( :( :( :(

oh and the funny part... i got a free upgrade at Enterprice rentacar to luxery.
Im rolling around in a Cadillac DTS!! Buahahah, the only nice part is how quiet it is inside and the funny stares i get when they see me driving it. Otherwise, i hate how it handles, rofltastic interior design, and throttle response feels like my 91 ford ranger.... sluuuuugish. its quite the BOAT.

still funny to see me riding in a Caddy tho!
co workers gave me the most priceless looks, hahaha

If it helps, I recently had my front bumper replaced on my BCM speed6. It actually looked really good. As far as I can tell it looks like a perfect match with the paint.

the paint isnt too hard to blend in and make it look real good.. if its done right you shouldnt notice a difference at all between the new paint and old.. so if you notice a difference, have it redone or take it to another body shop.

Lol I did the driver's side without removing anything ;)

Realistically, now that I've done them both, (particularly the passenger side one) I probably could do the driver's side without disassembling the whole car, but doing it the way I did allowed me to see WTF I was doing on that side so I didn't have to on the other! :)

you had a body shop replace/paint? or came from the dealer?

yay, technically as long as they can color match well enough it should look just fine.
I just worry cause i have never gone to this body shop and dont know the quality of their work, was only recommended via my insurance.

If insurance is paying, take it to a dealer. Don't mess around with second rate shops, the dealer gets the OEM parts and does the job right. If you're paying out of pocket to save a few bucks, then another shop might be an option, but if it's an ins. job, go dealer.

Does anyone have access or knowledge of what the actual part number is for a 2006 MS6 driver side tail lamp? It's the half that's actually on the body, NOT on the trunk lid. I went to get my tail lamp replaced and they still had the wrong one. I figured I could give them a part # since they seem to not understand, lol.

EH?!? insurance didnt list the mazda dealer as an option.
and apparantly the *OEM* glass isnt available, which i was hard pressed to believe.

i thought dealers only work on the car if its out of pocket or THEIR warranty coverage.

I duno if this is the right thread cause its not what I did to my car but my brother....

We went for food. Came home, I parked behind him. (this is key) We went inside.

2 hours later he comes over to me and goes. I made a boo boo. All I can think in my head is no way he hit my car.
HE BACKED RIGHT INTO IT!

Initial damage was a bent tow plate right into the bumper. Nice mark from the license plate and a nice semi circle from the corner of the tow plate....
That was 3 days ago. I Cannot bend it back to straight :( Got it in the vice and its still a little riply.

Now today I noticed he cracked the nextmod grille as well. The part that hooks over that flange on the bumper to hold the side in place.

RRRRG.

When asked how. He said he didn't see it and I was parked to close behind him. Now I could understand that response if it was a tricycle or small child. But its a bright red 4 door sedan! Like serious idiot. I had to be at least a couple feet cause he had enough speed built up to bend the 1/4 inch thick steel tow plate....
"When I hit it I thought I stalled the car or something..." His words....

Most good dealers have a body shop, and they'll do everything as close to OEM as they can. If you're paying the deductible, it doesn't matter where you go. My ins. always has 'recommended' shops, but they'll pay no matter where you go. Glass is a bit different, I've never known anyone who has gotten an OEM replacement windshield on a car.

Got a new Nextmod grille to replace the busted one. Just does not fit.

Good thing they are such good guys!
I am going to warehouse on Monday and they are going to fix me up.

Great customer service.

Changed my oil this afternoon. My oil pan and tranfer case were both wet on the bottom. Good leakage compared to the past oil change intervals. Put on the new spring type oil drain plug. So no more removing the oil pan bolt and replacing the crush washer.

Lost my stock bpv. I had it in my forge box. Opened the box and now its gone!!

In the next few minutes I will be doing a pressure test to try and fix my boost leak. Hope that this will eliminate the amount of flutter I am getting on light throttle/light boost situations. Also gonna take off the jspeed shift plate and package it up to ship it out and get the new revised one for the speed 6. Then wash mi caro!

Changed oil (with my sons help), rotated tires, adjusted e-brake, and played with the new dashhawk.

Made myself some new cheater blocks to pull up my ramps in the garage. Somehow my other ones, which weren't that good, disappeared, so I made a quick trip to HD to get a piece of 2x10 ripped down to size. I cut some 45* cuts on each edge to smooth the transition, and they seem to work fine.
