What have you done to your Mazda6 today?

Noticed tonight that I have a fog light(?) out. I assume those are supposed to be fog lights. It's the second light from center, inside the headlight housing. The ones that are on their own ring on the light stalk. Anyone know the part #, or where to find it? Anyone know a good place to order them?

Edit: Looks like they're H3. Is there a specific kind of base/fitting they have to be, or is that determined by being H3? Anyone know of any great deals?

I stumbled across something tonight. Seems like everytime the car is in fwd (e-brake pulled) I hit a higher psi. I was spiking and holding 17 in awd. Switch it over tonight and this is what I hit.

Got quoted $390 for a new windshield... great.

sucks man! check with you insurance to see if its covered.

installed my xm satellite radio last night, and my pg tbs. xm is awesome, tbs no differnce. but for 20 who cares lol.

today, washing the crap out fo my car. getting all that salt off!!

Higher boost spike with ebrake pulled..

Sounds like it may be time to bust out the wiring schematic and just see where all points lead to. It probably shouldn't be happening, unless it was something that just wasn't factored in with the engineering.

Although, since the MS3 is limited in boost because of traction, and the MS6 isn't, I wonder if this may be a slight hiccup in the ECU. Very interesting.

This is the deepest snow in this area in a very long time. (beach is 20 min from here) I went out and played for a while but max summer tires and snow don't mix, plus I'm drunk now lol

6 inches here so far. I wanna play in it so bad but it wont stop coming down and I don't wanna crack my front bumper. Might wait til tomorrow and go out with one of my budies and do some snow drifts. :)

I am pretty sure this is the case. I will have to run some datalogs for proof. This was 4th gear btw. Somewhere around 4500-5000 the car had a hicup and the boost gauge alert went off.

I've replaced them before, they're just a standard plug & play bulb. Got mine at the dealer, but you could go to any auto parts store. The fitment is determined by the bulb type so any H3 will do. It'll have a little whip like this that plugs in to a spade connector.

You don't have to remove the headlight, just pop the little "trap door" on the back of the headlight open and remove it. The bulb itself has one of those annoying little retaining clips on the back and note where the spade connector plugs in. It's a little difficult to maneuver in that tight spot but doable. Really the trickiest part was getting that little trap door seated & closed when you're done. The bottom has to grab and pivot shut toward the top.

.

I've been plowing snow all day. My bumper is already jacked so i don't care.

Thanks, Nate! I appreciate the info. Those ARE considered the fog lights, right?

That's the cleanest MS6 buried in a shitload of snow...ever.

And, my earlier post about the boost...I meant that Mazda engineering may have missed something. I re-read my post and thought it sounded a bit confusing.

different load in FWD so the ECU calculations are off. thus effecting boost control. thats a nice pic, haha.

Thanks rez. Got out my driveway and into the street and all 4 started spinnin. Turned around and came back home. Tires are almost bald.

Great NY: So there is some truth to this? hmmm.

-On a side note-Just ordered new tires. 245/40. I hope they dont rub...

the theory is sound. i do know that FWD will change the load at which the ECU senses and ETC, im not 100% that it is the cause but when load calculations get changed from what the ECU is used to seeing, then a lot of things can change.

being as the Boost is ecu controlled there may be a possibility that the boost control is effected as well due to the FWD trick.

and dammit, WTF are you doing on Bald tires bro, you know better, haha, what tires you going with?

245? hmmm........are your fenders rolled yet? if they are you should be good without having to run a negative camber. i had to roll for 235's, havent tried 245s yet, so im unsure, but i definitely think you'd need a roll if you dont have one already.

Rears are rolled and pulled. With a 5mm spacer just for flush. 235's are on there now. Going with 245/40 neo gens. The 235 neo gens have been great. But looking for a little more rubber. This should border line fit without rubbing. They arent bald yet but they are dead even with the wear marks.

What tables should I log to see the difference in fwd-vs-awd? Load and boost?

i would look at timing, load, MAF , and boost. and see if those change with the FWD vs AWD.

timing can effect boost as well, so if the load change effects the timing it coould possible raise boost.

Ordered bulbs for my fogs and the X-car link Ipod/aux adapter for it. :D
