Sup. New to Mazda, but not to cars

NEWS FLASH!!!!!!!!! Bought my 2010 Black Mica Mazdaspeed 3 today! It was $25k out the door with the extended warranty and gap coverage and all the bells and whistles and what not. I am super happy with it. I already put 75 miles on her and everytime I drive it I find something new thats awesome. Its very different from my S2000. But in a good way.


Good evening everyone,

I am purchasing a 2010 Mica Black MS3 the second week of Feb. upon my return from Iraq. I currently drive a Supercharged S2000 and will be hitting around 415whp once I get all the goodies I ordered installed. So I need a daily driver. I am pretty limited to my searching abilities out due to the firewalls on the internet here. So I have some questions:

I see that I should get TRZ motor mounts. Is this still engine rock as prominent in the 2010 MS3s?

For the best drop I have found that the H&R coilovers go the lowest. But I would rather not drop $1400 off the bat. Is there any springs out there for the '10 model? Like can the 2009 springs be used on the '10?

Lastly for now, I read that you cant hit peak boost in first and second gear to help manage torque steer. Has anyone overcome this? Or am I going to have to wait for COBB to put out a Accessport for the 2010 model? I want my boost!!!!

Well, the Coilovers are on Modacar.com already. I have done as much research as possible. But its not easy, I can only get on this mazda forum. No others, they are all blocked. So I am not sure. As for pictures of the S2K. I dont know how to source them directly but I put them in the gallery already. so here is the link.

As far as I know even with the AP you can't hit full bost in 1st or 2nd in a speed 3. Unless you wan't to be spinnin yo!

What have you done to your S2000 that makes it non DD'able?? Ive seen a quite a few force induced s2000's around here. Regardless grats on the decision.
 
Its not that it isnt DD able, but the gas milage is out the window. And its getting put into "track mode" when i get back. Its already a harsh ride and very load. I just want a semi fast, clean DD to put around in.

As far as stuff done to the S2K:
Vortech Supercharger w/ 13lbs of boost
725cc Injector Dynamics injectors
AEM EMS 30-1052 with wideband display
SOS 3bar Map Sensor
skunk2 springs over Koni yellow struts
70mm header back T1R single exhaust
VOLK TE37 TA 17x8f 17x9r

and thats it for performance. Not gonna list bling stuff, its too long.

and I guess I dont need that much power for my DD. Its just hard to not mod every car I get.

Your S2k looks great man! I owned a 2005 one for about 9 months. I needed a more practical car at the time. I miss it some days when the weather is nice. I never modded it though.

PS What kind of numbers are you putting down in the 1/4?!
 
Nothin on the 1/4. She is built for eating cones and turns. I have seen other similair s2000s run mid-high 12s. But she is going to be my weekend warrior and track queen. Thanks for the compliments :)

The only problem is you won't be able to access that 400whp around a slalom. That kind of power needs long stretches to appreciate. (drive2)
 
true, but now I am dropping VTEC from 4500 to 4000rpm and throwing double the boost as before. So I should have all the power I need exactly when I need it. 400whp+ would be too much for me to control at first. And I will have to re-learn my power band once i get it retuned.
