possibly boost leak.....

Where are your Vaccum( Boost ) lines configured into perhaps a picture of the engine bay is what is needed to diagnose the issue.

here some logs from last night and this morning. I was in 3rd gear for all of them. I took off the intake cleaned everything. I took off the TIP, the vacuum hose going to the WG. everything looked good. I still need to double check the vacuum hose that goes to the BPV. i have not check the connect very well going to the throttle body. and i still need to look at the test pipe.

NP! Just getting baffled by the issues. Time to let them sort it out. Just save yourself the headache and test drive with them and duplicate the issues for them so thy know. Rather than saying "couldn't duplicate".

Hi guys,

Im in the exact same situation as fuzzybmx (everthing except my BPV is stock) and I have loss of boost. 8psi under WOT. Not cool! Anyway, I have only found this thread today and have read every post about 3 times! (Some really great guys helping out here! I can only repeat fuzzybmx's thanks to all!)

I will be trying all the proposed solutions this weekend and will report back here with the results.

This a huge headache! i will show them instead of telling them. they have to be able to pin point something. cause really this is just not right!! Thanks again. also did you see my logs? could you tel anything by them?

stealthyspeeder: good luck man! let us know.

I checked all my connections adn tightenned everything.

Now im getting 11 psi on WOT. (intercooler to intake manifold connection was loose). I am taking the car for a boost leak test at my local tuners this week. I should be getting about 14.75 boost shouldnt I?

The car feels significantly quicker with a raise in boost from 8 -11 psi.

How did you get on fuzzybmx?

hey stealthyspeeder are you getting 11 psi for all gears? and you should be getting at least 15 psi.

I bought a new cobb turbo inlet pipe and it seemed to help some. 1-3 gears seem better. And i thought the higher gears seemed better but as i drove more it seemed to lower back down. I replaced all the clamps but they still seem to be getting lose. I am planning on buying some t-bolt clamps. I am also panning on swapping out the vacuum line going to the BOV. I am going to change my appt for the deal to friday. its going to rain this whole week in so-cal.

stealthyspeeder keep everyone updated. and i will too! this can be helpful for other as well!

Check the inlet to turbo clamp, some have noticed that their's was completely loose when they went to change out the stock on with an aftermarket inlet.

Worm clamps aren't the best and will a lot of heat fluctuations near the turbo I could see why it starts to loosen over time.

A valid thing to check... but I don't see how this would vary boost? I mean if the inlet side is loose then that just means the turbo can suck up more air bypassing the intake... unless this airflow if metered by the MAF and messing up numbers so the system decides to cut back boost... but in any case, I woulnd't think that a loose inlet is causing a reduction in boost.

I'm having the same problem, and I've only had my car 2 weeks!!!! WAYYYY slower than when I bought it. It's bone stock. But I will wait on a response from these guys to see what the problem was. If no cure, my car is going to the stealership. I ain't pissing around!!!

I am getting 11 psi in 2nd 3rd and 4th, havent checked 5th and 6th as the roads near me wounldnt allow that sort of speed!

I have the COBB turbo inlet. I will check its on tight (when I checked before, I only checked the after compression side).

Was your Air fuel ratio reading arounr 14.3 on idle and around 11 on WOT before you cleaned you MAF?

As someone else mentioned, why would an air leak pre compression, cause a loss of boost?

I will definately be checking this and cleaning my MAF this weekend (would do it sooner but im waking up and going home from work in the dark!)

You should see lower boost in second and third, due to ECU limits but, not 11 psi in 3rd and certainly not 4th. You are either leaking boost or your wg is opening too much, period.

Thanks! thats a little bit more reassuring!

My wastegate is open too much I think. under WOT, my WG duty cycle goes up to 100% Why could it be doing this?
