DDM Tuning Apexcone Raptor HID Kit - $30 plus shipping

They don't "make" projectors for the MP3, they really don't "make" them for any certain car. Most people that do retrofits use projectors that are universal and fit them into their current headlight housing. Here was the cost of everything for me:

DDM Tuning HID Kit - $55 shipped
Shrouds, D2S bulb adapters, Morimoto D2S bulbs - $65 shipped
FX-R projectors - $150 shipped
Misc - $30

So essentially it cost me around $300, but like I mentioned before I'm doing the labor myself. If you read around online and look at the DIY's it isn't as hard as you would think. Not to mention if you have a few buddies helping you you could easily do it in a weekend (taking your time). You can also find starter kits that already come with everything on www.retrofitsource.com, they are also really flexible with pricing if you tell them you're a member of www.hidplanet.com.

Taking pics and vids along the way?

i think he ment make projector headlights, they make them for a ton of cars, ive seen them on civics, chrysler 300's, srt4's, etc
but yea, they dont make them for our car which is kind of dumb

Has anyone tried upgrading the stock wiring harness and using higher wattage halogen bulbs like 85/80W and higher?

Basically, don't do it. The harness can be the least of your problems - you can melt down the lamp, esp the lens. Now I did run 100W halogens in my 92 626, but it had glass lenses. I got lucky, tho the bulbs didn't last too long before burnout. The best stunt I've ever pulled was with my 96 626 where I subbed in hi beam 65W bulbs for the stock 9005 lows. This takes a little plastic whittling and a replacement bigger o-ring (they make the high a little different so you won't do this by mistake) Conservative in that the extra 10W won't really melt the harness or lamp, but the improvement was significant.

i ordered 35w 8000k for the low and 55w 8000k for the hi .... the post with all the bulbs brightness only came a few days after i ordered :( but if u want 55w ... put them on the hibeam ... i hate beeing folowed by an idiot with hid full blast in my mirror !!!

It was a bad idea getting a high beam kit too, as HID bulbs need proper warmup time and you most likely won't have the high beams on long enough each time you use them to get warmed up enough.

+1... and you'll have to rewire the lowbeam to stay on when you engage the high... otherwise you'll be basically without headlights for about 5 seconds. plus with all the turning on and off... you'll likely burn up the ballast in pretty short order (comparatively speaking that is)

55w 8000k is probably no brighter than 35w 5000k.

also, I disagree with this... it is almost undoubtedly brigher... but more importantly as I mentioned earlier is casting more light in the directions you DON'T want it to go (AKA into other driver's eyes)

Maybe so on the brightness comparison of 55w 8000k to 35w 5000k. I don't know where people aimed their low beams, but when I aimed mine down appropriately for HIDs, the brights' adjustment is not seperate so in effect they became extra low beams or brighter fogs. I basically have low beams & 2 pr of fogs, lol. My brights are nowhere near oncoming driver's eyes because of where the lows are pointed to be correct with the HIDs in the low beams. This is the P5 housing, not sedan housing BTW.

What effort would that be? I am not going with HIDs for brights & have never intended to. I simply commented on the comparison of vision reducing higher watt blue or purple color temps compared to lower watt higher visibility of whiter color temps & what happened to my halogen brights when lowering the lows when putting HIDs in those.

sorry, I meant that going through all that effort to basically end up where you started was a futile effort.. if one were to do that..

Well, yes, would be completely useless to have HID brights due to the warmup thing, agree completely on that. Also agree spending the money to find out the hard way only to go back to halogen brights because of it would be futile waste of funds/time.

HELP HERE PLEASE!!? I'm looking at dabears website for hids, 35w. is standard, 55w upgrade is 55w. legal? and is it too bright? for street daily driver...
upgraded wire harness is no extra money, and is wired to batery...extra grounding, i guess? is this good? too much trouble? i don't know, i'm really confused now. I was thinking 6k 's at 55w. and upgraded wiring what do you guys think? please reply, i hate the stock beams

Carl...

Ok he will say....

I'm just gonna say this once more... a 55w kit is really stupid.

there, I said it. I'm better now.

I have seen the 35w 6k and that is more than you will ever need without the risk of melting stuff and pissing off all the oncoming traffic. Just my 2 cents.

Get 35W. And no matter which wattage you get, these kits are illegal since they aren't DOT approved (too much scattered light). The kit in the first post comes with everything you need, you don't need the battery harness, the kit comes with everything needed to be plug and play.

Also, as far as temperature (kelvin rating) I would recommend either 4500k or 5000k.

Oooh, more pics. Finally got around to putting in the 4500k HIDs bought as a Xmas present for my gfs Cougar. At the end, I put my lights on as well, and this kids, is why HIDs belong with projectors.

And yes, the paint on her bumper is spidered beyond belief. Thats what happens when a bird hits a fiberglass bumper going 70 mph. The car is getting repainted in the summer. Also, her headlights need to be reconditioned, on my to do list already :)
