Mazdaspeed3 2,3L in Mazda3

I am at 257 with just the MS CAI. What does TIP stand for?

In any event, I would do some additional mods after the warranty expires, but I would be concerned it would make the car unreliable and I don't want my g/f driving it. If it was just me, that would be fine...

I suppose if there was some long term data with MS3s pushing over 300 with no issues (or minor ones) I would go for it. The problem is, the data just isn't there. If anything, I have seen quite a few "smoking turbo" and other issues with heavy mods.

well for long term, one of the guys at a local car club has about 60k on his and hes fully bolted, running strong since day 1.

the TIP is the piece of intake between your CAI and the turbo itself. Upgrading this will give you quicker spool up. about 150 bucks new. A test pipe replaces the 2nd cat with a straight pipe, about a 1/2 hr install with proper tools and very easy to switch back and forth for whatever reason. in all your looking at about 500 bucks in hard parts + tuning for 300whp. U can get an ap used for anywhere from 500-550, and a tune from the shop i went to was about 500. so 1500 bucks gets you north of 300. pretty good imo

No reliability issues whatsoever. I drive the car like a sane person tho. I do auto x and road race so it does get beat on during the warmer months. The car will drive basically like stock, except when you go WOT.....then it puts a big ass smile on my face. But im used to it now and need more, and the warranty is holding me back as well

That doesn't sound bad at all. I would just need to find a place in MD that I could trust to do the work.

the inlet is an easier install than your cai, and the test pipe is about the same. so even if your not tool savvy it can be done. I recommend taking the drive to NJ and getting tuned at Akuma Motorsports. The owner and I are in constant contact tweaking the tune to get optimal power safely from the engine.

Thanks for the suggestion... NJ isn't that far for me. I would just have to plan carefully so it could all be done at once.

Thats the same problem I have Im willing to put in the work to have my car running that much horse power but its my daily and i want it to still be reliable. And I live in Houston, Texas so I'm looking for a reliable shop dat I can get to do the build for me.

Finding a good shop is the hardest part of all. There are so many things that could go wrong... not just with the car, but even the work / price could be over-inflated. I am by no means a car expect, but I try to do a little research first so I at least have a rough idea what I am looking at. Best you can do sometimes.

MZR to mS3 trans swap?

I have a turbo kit 2006 maz3 with a broken trans now. I don't really want to put another regular trans in it, ya know? But I may just have to put it in for now.

Anyone have a link on this swap? Anyone know if the motor/trans mount is made by anyone? What is involved with the shifter linkages?
