Need help.. I own 2009 Mazda 5 touring. Problem occur when I change my stock wheels to 205-60-r16. the rims are from mazda6 with 16x7. but now I return the stock rims, Im now having a heavy feeling on the steering & shudder over bump. dealer replace driveshaft & hub bearing on the front passenger side and they align all wheels. I'm still having problem, their is also a loud tire noise on the front passenger side. First I'm suspecting the bearing but dealer already replace it. but noise still their.
Any advice what cause this problem? I only hear this on the front right side. notice that noise is not changing even the road change in condition (smooth to rough).
I also notice dent on the middle part of both front strut. I this normal? Just thinking if this from the mazda 6 wheel I put because it is a 7" wide with 55 offset.
Thinking other parts that may cause this like: power steering, bent steering component, tie rod, or hub assembly.
would their be an effect if I have a bent strut? I will post the picture later. I already try many dealer but they said their is no problem. I will try to record the noise & post link here.
Thanks in advance Guys. I live in Virginia.

here's the picture of my strut, their is a curve portion on the middle no scratches. I wonder if that's normal or it should be straight cylinder shape? I suspected this with the shack absorber for having a loud tire noise on front passenger side & a shudder on steering over bumps.

I would think the offset may have something to do with it, might need an alignment.

This already got align last time they replace the axle bearing & drive shaft. that's why I', still thinking what may cause this problem. I already using the stock wheels now, still having loud tire nose. what can happen when I use the 55 offset wheels from mazda 6? what part can be damage?
thanks

How long did you drive the 55 offset wheels before you went back to your original wheels? Did you get the alignment done before you first got the different offset wheels put on or after the fact?

I drive it for more than 500 miles, I use it for long drive. I didn't align the wheels before I use it. I just got this from my friend that why I just put it in my mazda5. Is their anything I can do to have this fix? thanks

Wheel, it still sounds like your alignment may be off, which could possibly be from the different wheel offset you had put on and didn't get the alignment done after placment for the new wheels at the time. Then you drove 400 miles with them, which you factor in daily driving / spirited drives / un-even pavements, etc.

Where you got your alignment done, they may have a yr warranty, I'd ask. Have em' check the alignment again and see if the problem persists.

thanks, I'll ask the shop to check the alignment again.

Just an update: I went to the shop, Let the mechanic drive. Now they found that the strut bearing is damage. hopefully that would be the cause of this problem. now I'm waiting for the parts to arrive. will update once they replace the strut bearing.

@ Fogmic - Are you saying here that I cannot use the mazda6 -55 offset wheels anymore? How can I correct the offset when I mount it again? I will use it this coming winter & to add ride comfort. thanks

UPDATE: Got my mazda5 from the service shop this afternoon. they said they already fix the problem. they told me that It's not needed to replace the strut bearing & strut. said they just make the mount seat properly. but the time I got home, same squeaking sound I hear before came from the front passenger side again. I can say they didn't repair the problem. I can barely hear the sound especially when raining & cold. tomorrow I will return it and explain. I'm getting mad with the service they do, any suggestion? I thinking to tell them to replace the strut & mount which is the first plan they told me that cause the sound. why they keep saying this to me. why they don't like to replace that part? tomorrow I will talk to the service manger and let him to drive it.

UPDATE: Went to the shop, they still can't find the source of the squeaking sound from the front, and they check the TSB. said that possibly the lower control arm bushing is making noise. now I'm waiting for the parts until next week. hopefully this will fix the problem.

Agree: "lower control arm bushing"

I think I got a bit of that after putting my new rims and tires on, I get a (take the tire off the rim completely) rotation in a month, I'm going to mention it to them.

Peace!(rei)
