Do I need this/what's it for?

You guys know that metal plate under the car that covers the exhaust? Where the stock 2nd cat is? What is it for and do we need it? I installed the turbo XS test pipe and it hits it under hard 1st to 2nd acceleration. It quit when I took it off. I heated it up and pounded it with a hammer to get more clearance, but it still does it. If this is for added rigidity, I'll just pound it some more. Please inform. Thanks.

Um, yeah, you need all the rigidity in this chassis. This engine can twist this car into a Gordian Knot without it.

Chassis brace...necessary? Probably not. But not hurting anything, and probably beneficial in hard cornering situations

He's probably talking about the plate steel tunnel brace right under the pipe, not the little chassis flex brace. That big plate is pretty integral to the car's structure and they wouldn't have made it so heavy gauge if it didn't do anything.

Couldn't it be replaced with the GT Spec mid chassis brace?
