Fun Run/Detail Party/Winter Prep Meet 10/24/09

yea right I am game! i haven't made a fun run yet this year. I have to work tomorrow morning so ill schedule it off.

Damn! I was waiting for that weekend to come up before posting but I'm gonna be away on the 24th. (doh)
Guess I'll probably have to wait til next year now to get in on another one of these. Looks like it's turning in to one a year for me. Gotta start to make it to more than that.

Yes, the 24th is the best day. Even if we had to push it to the 25th that would be ok... Sunday morning wouldnt be to bad.

Looks like Mike will make this fun run! It is totally on. Ray said he would have the get ready for winter detail party immediately following.

This one's gonna be a game time decision for me, depending on how I'm feeling about the turbo and if I get the mods back on. I may give this one a little more time to warm up before I get on it hard.

So just pull up the rear, I will lead this time. Trust me, bringing up the back of the pack will cut down on 90% of the time in boost on a fun run.

That is true to... Not like it is a race and to be honest you can eccelerate moderately and still keep the lead 99% of the time.

I'm not worried about keeping up, I'm just concerned with taking it easy on the turbo for the first 1000 miles. I was planning on not throwing the AP on until I got some miles on it. I will most likely throw the mods back on this weekend. The inlet install is about 20 min start to finish anymore.

Steve, this is still a week and a half away. I'm sure between all the driving you do, you'll get somewhere near 500 miles on it at least. Technically, Bill's method has worked pretty good. "Drive it like ya stole it the day ya bought it".

I figure I put around 200 miles a week on my car. If I get it back, I can probably get a full tank through it by next weekend.

not to mention the 50 miles from your house to the meet point lol all turbos are bench tested before they are sold so there is technically no breal in period needed on them now. its like how on old cars you needed a oil change after 500 miles on car and now you don't.

I understand that they're tested before install, but it's prolonged use that shows where something fails. If it's 'broken in', then I'm hoping that I won't see the same issue as before.

I just can't see jumping in a car at 5 deg. and redlining it out of a parking lot...that's how things break...

never said to was just saying it would be pretty hot by the time you get there... haha Matt never had a motor issue mr. blown turbo lol...
