parking brake Q

Hi there

When you engage the parking brake, is it the disc that is doing the braking, or is it a drum, under the disc?

Reason is that my toyota has a drum/disc combo in the rear, the drums being only used for parking.

The cable turns a mechanism that forces the piston through the caliper, just like applying the brakes would. It's really a great system that resets itself as the pads wear.

Just remember that if you ever need to replace rear pads, you have to manually retract the piston.

Glad you said that, I was wondering that one day, I've changed brakes on a Skyline and Cefero, both pain in the butt.

Noted thanks!

Peace!(rei)
