Stage 2 + sf v 1.05 installed. First impressions!! LOGS UP!!!!

I recieved my AP today and got right to work downloading the new maps and loading the one that most closely matches my modifactions. I selected he stage 2 + sf intake v1.05 map. After installing I let the car idle for a few min and then took it for my 45 mile drive to work. I varied the throttle position most of the way to work trying not to get into boost too much.

About 5 miles from work I have to drive on a small stretch of the interestate and I figured I'd open it up real quick to see how the new tune was. The first thing I noticed is that boost comes on hard and fast! Having power all the way to redline for once is a very nice feeling. The power delievery was smooth from the moment I went WOT and the car never seemed to stop pulling. 3rd and 4th gear are now much more aggressive an the car doesn't seem to hit a brick wall when trying to accelerate.

I have yet to do my first data log but plan to do so on the way home from work tomorrow morning. I know I should log KR, Boost, Fuel pressure, and spark advance, are there any other ones I should log to help get an idea of how the car is reacting to the tune?

So far I am very very pleased with the new addition of my DP and AP. The car is a completely new animal. I am very excited to get my PG manifold and FMIC in the very near future.

First log is a 3rd-4th gear pull
Second log is 1st-4th gear pull
Third log is a 3rd gear pull

I am seeing some knock that I am not too happy about, also I can't figure out for the life of me why my AFR isn't logging along with my LFT's

Awesome. Just keep in mind that what works for you may not work for others and vise versa. So don't expect all numbers to be perfect. Might want to monitor Air Fuel Ratio and RPM as well. I'm yet to download atr and see if it's some thing I want to mess with. Stage 1 is crazy I can imagine what Stage 2 feels like. Gongrats on your purchase and be safe.

haha :) I knew you would like it. Anyways you had your fun and your liking it and thats very important. Now lets make sure your running safe. Date log a couple of good 1st-4th gear pulls and post them on here and well see how your car is behaving..but good s*** :)

haha you were right, I love it so far! I'll be sure to get some good logs on the way home tomorrow and see how the car is doing. I'll have some logs up first thing tomorrow around 8 am.
 
Well I got some data logs done on the way home. One looks pretty dang good and the other has one rough spot. I tried to attach them to my post but I am unsure of what I am doing wrong. Also, while logging, my AFR along with LFT isn't changing for some reason. They are both locked in at the same thing the entire time.

I know this is useless without seeing the log (I'll get it up later today) but the first run I did was a 3rd to 4th pull, boost spiked to 20psi and held 17.8 at redline. I saw no KR the entire run. The second log I did was 1st-4th and the boost was the same as the first log but I saw a few cells of 3.15 KR and 2 cells of 5.35 KR!!!! All of these cells were in a row and pretty high up in the RPM's (5500+ rpm). I know it is unlikely but with it being that high in the RPM is there any chance the knock sensor is registering false knock? If it is in fact real knock, does anyone have any input on mixing 100 octane gas with my normal 93 octane?

Sorry I don't have the logs up, I will give it another shot when I wake up this afternoon. I just got home from work and it's time for bed :).
 
download the logs from your ap to a folder on your desktop so it will be easy to find when you attach it to your post.

It keeps telling me they are in the wrong format. Ill work on it tonight and see if I can't get them up. I forgot to mention my FP was holding stedy at 1690-1790 psi.
 
your afr is freakin consistent...and mine runs around 11.30 during wot. Also your fuel is fine as well..so thats good..It didnt show wastegate duty on thier but i would assume your not to high on that..knock is showing up..wierd how you have 0 knock on 1 strong run though..hmm.. I think with few tweaks from ATR that youll be golden :)

I was assuming my AFR wasn't reading properly or something. I didn't think it could possibly stay that consistent at 14.85 on all the runs the entire time. I think I'd want it to be down in the 11.9 range. I am seeing some knock here and there, the 5.xx KR really has me thinking it may be false knock beings it's so high in the RPM but I will continue to monitor it. I am contemplating pulling the trigger on a meth injection kit to keep boost temps down and maybe kill the KR but I haven't decided yet.

yeah I agree..thats was to consistent and its alittle on the lean side..idealy from what I know, which is little..is you wanna be in the 11's but with these mazda's ive also heard being healthy depends from 1 car to another and its ok to be in the low 12's...as for the knock in the higher rpm..yeah I know for sure..low load knock is something Cobb has already addressed about the readings being false and not to be concerned..as for upper rpms..thats where the trouble comes in..Honestly though for a ots map with your mods..not to shabby..your running alittle lean and getting some knock..but its not something you can fix..since thats your base map..stick with that and then maybeeeeeeee lower your load levels just a tad? drop that boost down and try to richen the afr alittle and see where that gets you on ATR..I myself am just learning and can only give you alittle direction in this..as for the meth kit..yeah give it a shot if you want..should help ofcourse. Maybe you can contact cobb and have them do a e-tune on your car...its like 150 bucks..cheaper than going to a tuner and you can get good results..never did it myself..but have heard people have done it. Bet your car is pulling hard...your prabaly in the 280 whp range if I were to take stab at it..I would atleast email your log to maybe surgeline tuning and ask Tim Baily along with whats mods your running on advise for your car...those are options I can think top of my head.

wow!! Thanks for all the advice!!! I just downloaded ATR and it is all gibberish to me but with some time I will figure it out I am sure. As for an E-tune I didn't even know that was an option I may have to look into that. For a 150$ it is worth a shot. I really would like to get a meth kit but I still have a bit of research to do on them. My car is deff pulling pretty well and I am very happy with the power!! Tomorrow I will try and figure out why my AFR isn't properly logging and see if I can't attempt to tune out the KR I am seeing. Thanks again for all of the help!!

Heres a quick 2nd gear to 4th gear pull. Did not take car into high rpm range. ran out of road and out of time. Map is stage 2 sf 91 octane v105.

21 pounds of boost? Am I reading that right? Are you comfortable with that from a safety standpoint?
 
HAHA no...thats why im getting a custom tune..my car just hates ots maps..I tried this version 105 just to see if anything got better and no it didnt..but ummm yeah..im not kosher with it no.
 
Is that the straight OTS map or is that after you modified it with ATR? I have occasionally seen 21psi but it quickly tapers down. For stage 2, cobb says boost targets are 19psi +/- 1.5 PSI so you're not too far off of their targets. I am going to go out and get some more logs shortly and see how things are looking.
 
Yeah straight ots map..Ive been running on stage 1 mostly,which that map isnt perfect either but seems to be alittle better. But figured for s**** n giggles to run the newer stage 2 map. I really wanna get rid of the knock..maybe 2 step colder plugs would help..higher octane is not available..simple need to custom tune it..thats all there is to it..and its gonna happen soon! :) my speed hates ots maps!

I am starting to think mine may hate them too. My boost targets are right on track but I am seeing way too much KR for my liking. I still can't figure out why my AP is not reading my AFR.

Well I just did 3 more logs and I am not too pleased with what I am seeing. My AP still isn't reading my AFR for God knows why but anyways here are the newest logs.

Log 1 = 1st-4th
Log 2 = 2nd-4th
Log 3 = 3rd-4th

5.95* of KR is just not acceptable. I know cobb suggests running the stock BPV, but I am not sure if that has any affect on KR at all.
