ECU swap

Can you swap ECUs between cars? Mainly can you swap a Mexican MS3 ECU into an American MS3 and vice versa?

I'm desperately trying to get a Cobb AP to work w- my Mexican MS3 to no avail

I'm not 100% certain but the main the reason why any ECU swap won't work on the MS3 (or even Mazda3s) is because of the immobilizer.

That's partially correct. Each car's ECU is associated with that vehicles vin number. For example, if I wanted to take another ecu from another speed3 it wouldn't work because of the vin. The immobolizer would then active as it would perceive the car as being stolen.

if you had the keys programed to that ecu it might work. meaning you would need to swap keys as well
