2008 Mazda Mazdaspeed3
Hi All!! i just Picked up a Speed3 in True Red From Tampa FL.. and drove it home to Chicago. Let me say that so far this car is everything it is Hyped up to be... AND THEN SOME!!!.. I cant wait to get some Exterior Mods done to it... If someone can help me with finding out how to do 2 things...
1: ive seen another TRS3 on here with black ( fang looking ) vinyls on the hood with the Mazdaspeed logo on them.

They look amazing and i would like to know how to do that!

2: Also I want to get the Wheels Painted... and i cant seem to find a DIY thread for it...

Thanks for Info!!

Glad to be Here!!!

you'd probably get a better DIY for wheels from either another site or a specific forum for painting things like that. some on here have used regular spray paint, some have used powder coating

as for the hood stripe, don't underestimate the power of the search button. but here ya go anyway..... tap your heels 3 times and say CLICKIES!

links not working.. but dont worry i will use the search button instead. Thanks

You mean like my stripes? Come out to a meet and I can show you them up close. Just check the IL section.

Wheels are tricky to paint and require a lot of prep work and whatnot... But I know a guy local who got his wheels painted gloss black for 200 bucks. And it was a real quality job!

Welcome to the speed family. I might be able to help you out with the wheel painting part... just did my second set this this weekend and they turned out pretty good i think...

Also added a red pin stripe but I can't decide if I like it better then the all black or not so it's staying on for now.

If ur still looking for a How-To let me know. I don't really have any pictures of it unfortunately, but it shouldn't be hard to explain what I did. And as was said above, come out to a few meets and ask us some questions... someone would be able to either answer your questions or at least point you in the right direction.

Ya a meet would be sweet!! we( me and my firends )go to Stratz Alot some time with our cars.. othertimes we will ride our bikes ( i have a Yamaha R6 as well ) let me know if your going to head up there.

I contacted a guy about the MazdaSpeed Strips and hes going to get some for me soon. But as far as the Wheels go i was debating on either Powdercoating them or Just regular paint.....

but i know the Pwdercoating can be expensive...

If i have a money left from that.. the first thing ill get is a CAI... cause my car is bone stock.

any specific brand stand out thats good for the MS3?

I did mine in a few hours... Sand, prime, paint, wet sand, clear... Haven't seen any chips yet, and I drove from AR to NC with them.

and as far as the actual Mazdaspeed Brand being a reputable CAI..... YAY or NAY?

I have it and have had no problems. I have it running in a Short ram, its two pieces so I don't have the bottom section on. I have the air straightener and fuel trims have been spot on.

But right now, unless you buy it used it might be hard to find a new MS CAI because they too it off the market to include the air straightener and get it CARB approved so a lot of dealers haven't had it in stock.

If you plan on getting the AccessPort I would get the Cobb SRI just so have what the Off the shelf maps call for. There is a Mazdaspeed CAI map but I wasn't able to get to work for me without knock retard (scary levels too).

Ok ya ill probably just stick with the CP-E or COBB or Corksport at that point. Other than that im not looking to really get anything else ( engine wise ) done to it.
thanks for info

im not sure if i willl like being hit with a bag of bricks(dunno).. from your metaphoricall expieriance.... how does it feel? im assuming that its like pringles / women... once you pop... the fun dont stop.. im not sure if my wallet can handle that lol

there are plenty of fun fist time mods that you can put on with out breaking the bank. i wouldn't do anything to serious with the car if you've still got a warranty. milk that thing as much as possible.
