Looking at buying a MSP and want advice? Post here!

Is that a MP3 converted to a MSP or did you just swap on the Mp3 bumper? Honestly all the parts on it are top end. Steedspeed, XC hood, GHL, Defi gauges, GT Spec rear arms. Those parts alone cost a couple thousand. With the money spent on those mods I wouldn't be suprised if the LSD is welded and the Motor Forged

Here's his mods list before he sold it. some of the parts were removed like the Split second and GT spec truck braces

Performance Mods: Turbolife FMIC, Boostscience Reflex Valve, Forge WGA, Perrin intake, Apexi Filter, AEM water injection system, Gizzmo MS-IBC (at 10 Psi), GHL Full Downpipe, Greddy SP2 Exhaust, Steedspeed exhaust manifold, 626 intake manifold, SS AFC V2, AWR front MM, exedy stage 1 clutch, fidanza flywheel

Suspension: BC racing Coilovers Inverted, Evolv's Sway bar bracket, Cusco Strut Bar, GTspec Trunk Braces

Gauges: AEM UEGO Wideband, Defi boost, Defi EGT

Exterior: XC reverse cowl carbon hood, XC Carbon trunk, Evolution 9 Spoiler, Catz fog lights, Aerocatch Hood pins

get a mechanic to look at it and see if the motor is indeed forged. if so i would steal that.

p.s. that is def not a GHL exhaust.

well my buddy and i went yesterday and offered him $8,000 and they are calling us back today at 11. And if this was converted into an msp i think this might be a friend of a friends...thanks for everyones help.

I personnally wouldn't buy anything from a lot that adds stem cell research spam to any of thier ads...but that's just me. Want to sell the steering wheel?

Looking to buy MSP

Hey, hows it going? im looking into a 2003 msp. it has 69,000 miles on it and looks like a great car. Im new to mazdas so im not sure what to look for. The car is located in NY and im from Connecticut so its quite a drive. Im just wondering what major things i should look for, such as common issues etc. this car will be my daily driver and i will have it for atleast 3 years so i want to make sure it will last and make sure its a solid car before i drive it off the lot. any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

common issues (least to most important):
head unit, sub, and sub amp are all known to die
rear sway bar bushings wear in about 12K miles and tend to squeak/clunk there after, AXR clunk fix is available, which relocated the sway bar mounts outboard and remedies the problem
motor mounts tear, aftermarket mounts STRONGLY suggested
differentials break (center section seperates from ring gear, leaving you going nowhere fast). welding at this factory weakpoint is a common practice here (welded LSD when talking about an MSP doesn't mean welding the spider gears)

Hello all MSPers

I am leaving in like 2 mths and I want a MSP to work on while I am on mid tour leave. My first Mazda is my 3 08 GT. I love it. But while I am gone it will become hers. My fishing truck will be happy but I fear for the 3. NEwayz
Looking to mod this thing like $2-3K and I want an 03.5. I can deal with something that will s**** on me in 10 K I just want a clean body with no history to worry about structure wise. I love Mazda now and need some info - guidance Are there any pros cons to the 03 to 03.5 models apart form appearance and out? Also I have a good friend who has a 04srt(still a neon) and the ecu is easily abused and tricked into easy tunes via piggyback. I see the large variety of tunes here and am going to start archiving the ones who get kudos. I live in the PNW mid WA. So summer to winter is hard on many tuner cars. Please help set me straight. Any replys will be helpful. Just want the Mazda enjoyable spirited ride and these are limited beautiful factory cars.

BTW I will spend 5- 11K on this thing cost depending upon drivetrain. I hate outsourcing labor like bodywork and paint.

do the diffs. break under stock power? if and when i plan to make it faster i will make sure i do everything right but for now i just want to make sure its not a serious issue even when the car is stock.

mine broke 4K after I bought it (72K miles) bone stock, getting onto a freeway. I was definitely on it, but didn't powershift or anything. I've heard of em breaking just cruising (rarely)... but... there are definitely no rules for when they will and will not break, except that a brand new, welded dif has not been known to break yet.

how much of a hassle is it to weld? i just saw a new one forsale on here for i think it was $700. thanks for the reply

well, you gotta pull and take apart the trans... I'd say stash the money to do it when you do a clutch, or do a clutch when the diff lets go on you...
