NEMOC Random BS Thread

last year when I was looking for a truck I found one on long island.........
I had a similar experience while shopping for Wranglers with my wife. Herb Chambers BMW in boston got one on a trade. The price was high but we went to look at it anyway. The hardtop had been installed incorrectly causing paint to scrape off the driver's door every time you opened and closed it. The clutch bearings were loud as hell and even my mother-in-law could tell you it needed a new clutch. I pointed out a few other minor details and tried to negotiate with them but they wouldn't budge on the price. They called us back a week later seeing if we were still interested. By that time, we had purchased one in better condition from a private seller for $3,000 less than what they were asking. it had about 10K miles more but the owner was maticulous about keeping it clean. We've had a few problems with it since the purchase, but nothing unexpected for a car with over 100K. I checked back up with the Herb Chambers site several months after we made our purchase and the Jeep was still on their lot.

Some dealers just don't negotiate. They would rather send a vehicle to auction occasionally than let it be known that you might be able to haggle a deal out of them. They obviously still turn a profit but it can be a waste of consumer's time when the price doesn't match the quality of the vehicle.

Personally, I like what Jordan's furniture does with their overstock and floor models. They put it on the floor with a list of prices. Each week the price drops. You can buy it now at the high price, or hope it is still there in a week or two so you can snatch it at the lower price. Eventually it will go at fair market value.

Installed Hella Supertones tonight.. was a pretty quick install thanks to a nice How-To online. They seem pretty loud, though they are very directional and I haven't experienced the full brunt of them (standing in front of the car).

So why are you getting rid of the Jeep?

Many reasons really, but nothing to do with the vehicle itself. It's never had any major issues. Little quirky things, but it has always done the job. It's a true gas hog with only 15-16mpg in the city. Mary does a lot of city driving. Need something a bit more economical. These are the times.

So I fixed my phone issues finally. I called up Verizon since Alltel is no more and asked them why I can't get on the EVDO network. I explained that the only time I could get on EVDO was back home in FL...

Apparently when I updated my phone back in May it didn't include Verizon's networks so I had to update my phone again. Now everything works perfect. Hot damn it's fast!

....another nice morning out today!

got a nice bike ride in last night and am planning on getting one in tonight, too!

what year? thought they all rode like the impreza's?

04.. It isn't so much the ride as it is the seats. Everytime someone makes a minor adjustment to the seat, my back flares up for several weeks.

I need a car that doesn't do that.

Can you get a pillow or something?

some sort of lumbar support could help. a memory foam thing or something. i just ripped my back and am out of the race for a while. pulled it earlier last week and fell at the basin in NH on a rock and sent shivers up my whole back. im only 25 but right now i feel like im 125. my back is DONE!

I went for a nice 8 mile off road ride. First 3 miles are basically thru a big rock garden. Total pain in the ass, but felt good knowing that my single speed, rigid frame 29er flew thru that stuff faster than full suspension 21 speed bikes.

Grab a beer man, I'll do a social drink with ya thru the forums.

In all honesty, hope it's better tomorrow for ya.

^^ haha cheers! Its one of those days when you feel like hitting the kill switch on your PC and casually walking out.
