What have you done to your MSP today?

I know that, I'm just saying, I've never seen or heard of a paint shop that put out perfect at a reasonable price. It just sounds wrong thats how rare that is. lol.

I know that just cause it costs a lot doesn't mean you'll get what you paid for. You just need to figure out which expensive place you wanna dump that money into and hope for the best. haha.

It's sad that no kind of shop can be trusted

looks and runs great although my car has been hesitating like crazy lately... i have the SS AFC waiting to be installed.

So question on a cheap mod for the MSP. I was talking to a guy last night about doing a semi-straight pipe. I say semi because the only thing leaving is essentially the muffler. He was telling me that it'd be easy to take the muffler out of the equation because there is a bend in the stock exhaust near the rear passenger door that I could simply cut, then clamp (or better weld) an extension to just in front of the wheel.

Here are my questions:
1. As it's been discussed on that other dudes car, would me being on stock everything else potentially cause harm in doing this?
2. I doubt there would be, but would there be any significant power gains (I repeat, I doubt it but just wondering)
3. Would it sound God awful?
4. Would I be better off just straight piping from the (can't recall which) j/s pipe?
5. Would I be better off spending cash to get a nice exhaust or electronic dump?

Basically I just want my car to a smidge louder than stock because stock sounds kinda wimpy IMO. Thanks in advance for some answers.

I know its been over a year but you just have to remember what my car sounded like. I had a 2.4" corksport pipe into a custom resonator and then 2.25" exiting right in front of the wheel. Sure it was a little on the loud side but nothing bad at all.

Also this can only help the car as it will let it breathe easier. Depending on what you eliminate and what diamete pipe you go you may see some decent gains.

How hard was it to change out the actuator? I've had the Forge actuator sitting in a box for months... I keep putting it off cuz it looks like such a PITA!

When I had paint work done, I asked if I could take a walk around the shop. One shop owner told me no, so I wrote him off. Two others said ok... one of them had a shop that was neat as a pin, and the owner wanted to show off his down-draft paint booth and then showed me two cars he was painting for a guy that had done frame-off restorations on these cars. I figured if the guy was willing to trust those cars that he had taken down to nuts and bolts to that shop it was probably the right shop. He wasn't the highest price or the lowest... but I felt comfortable leaving my car with him. BTW, he did a great job!(first)

just to chime in on the paint thing; be sure to tour the facility your are getting a quote from and make sure its clean and up to your standards. if you see things or practices that make you kinda go hmmmm, might wanna move on.

check their work. cars in the shop, finished cars for color match, and talk to the painter directly. interview the facker lol. when i got my quarter panel redone, i went to 8 places and got quotes for $1000-$2000 to get it pounded and painted.
I went with a small place with just two guys and got it done for $800.

make sure s/he has done tricoats before. most painters don't have much experience with it.

and as for $2k. that seems like a lot for just paint. masking isnt really that much work. but i dunno what kind of damages was done to your roof for it to need painting.

3 inch is 3 inch...hell 2.5 is plenty for your setup...yes three will help you once your in boost, but itll take some of your low end away

yeah but the Apexi R1 is $550 shipped, whereas the Corksport will be around $450.

I am trying to recall the sound but it's hard to. Like I asked in my original post, will this require an ECU upgrade/flash or will it run just fine without such a mod?
