New MS3 Owner/ CAI Recommendations

I have had my while MS3 for about 3 weeks now, and I got to say that I am in love all over again. Sometimes I will give a little peek through the blinds when I'm at home and think, yeah baby...your mine!

Anyway...enough with my love affair with the new wheels, lets gt down to business. Can you give me a good and proven CAI unit for the MS3's. I was eyeballin the Injen but I just don't have enough info.

Also, what is the situation with the CAI and the effects on Warranty issues...any?

I would recommend the cp-e cai its 3inch awesomehp.Just keep your stockthings just incase.If you dn like cai go w/the cp-e nano or cobb sri.

The only CAI that won't cause any warranty problems is the Mazdaspeed one, which isn't currently available (hopefully soon, but who knows?). Others can give Mazda cause to void your warranty should you have problems that they can claim are related. You have the option of swapping out the intake every time you go to the dealer, but that may not be a good way to go for everyone.

That's like saying that if you have anyone other than Mazda do your oil changes & ther maintenance, it could cause warranty issues. Pure BS. (I have seen car dealers try to sling that line of crap, too.)

But I am holding out patiently for the Mazdaspeed CAI to be re-released anyhow, just because I figure it'll generate less warranty heat than a non-Mazda part. And I will be installing it mysellf. Not paying them $100 labor for a 20-minute install.

I agree with you that it probably wouldn't hold up in court but you should read the fine print in your warranty. If it states no DIY, even on MS accessories, then the dealer is right. Also the angle they would be using in that case would be that you are not a licensed mechanic, and do not have the propper knowledge which could cause a mistake in the install, thus causing damage to the car. Im not saying this is correct, its just the argument they would most likely use. If you couldn't prove otherwise they might have a leg to stand on.

Its like installing your own memory or hard drive on your dell. Really the chances of ******* this up so bad that it ruins your computer are almost none, but if you so much as open up a dell, let alone install hardware on it, they void your warranty instantly. The use the same arguement.

Either way my dealer didn't seem too much against intakes. He more or less said as long as everything is within reason, warranty should be fine.

It was re-released for the second time and then another stop-sale came along so Mazda could tweak the CARB legal things again, IIRC.

You are correct. I nearly ordered mine during the re-release, but waited too long. Grrrrrr. Who knew it'd disappear again?

Sounds like the MS3 CAI is the ticket if there is warranty concern. I will keep my eye out for the re-release. Thanks for your replies!

The Cobb sri is cheaper, Carb legal now, sounds badass and easy to install/uninstall. I may eventually go CAI but for now Cobb is the way to go until there is no warranty.

I agree...and really easy to swap out for dealer visits. All my parts are except my CBE

+1 for Injen. Some of the other CAI & SRI are prone to throwing a CEL, but the Injen seems to be one that very few people have that problem with.

If you really want CAI, go CP-E. It's friggen sweet. You could go Mazdaspeed, if you want to keep the waranty.

I'd say just get an SRI and be done with it. They're cheaper, easier to install, still make good gains, and sound wicked.
