yes you can use the p5 motor with the 5-speed transmission or with the auto transmission...they bolt up exactly the same
they DON'T bolt up the same
the manual MBSP is shaped differently and has an extra bolt hole
that being said it doesn't fit the definition of "bolt up the same"
no where in my first reply did I ever make any mention that it won't bolt up, you are ASSuming I said it won't bolt up
what the hell are you talking about?
the FS engine bolts directly up to both the 5-speed AND automatic transmissions, there is no difference....you simply take the bare shortblock and bolt up all the rest of the parts that you have (manifolds for example)
the shortblock is EXACTLY the same and had been for over a decade...my protege has a 1993 ford probe engine in it that I converted over to electronic ignition, the only difference in the shortblock itself was the camshafts and the oil pump...the rest were all exterior to the block and ALL of the modern components bolted up directly
the shortblock is NOT exactly the same for over a decade
you call me "high strung" because a lot of people have a problem with how I say things and I don't care what you or they think... but the real problem is, you (and many others) don't trust what I said after YEARS AND YEARS with the *ability* to back up 99% of my posts
that being said, I'll say this again... don't waste my time and prove you wrong because it'll destroy this thread like all the other flaming pissants did in all the other threads they called me out on... this thread is already headed in that direction, so PLEASE STOP
now with that out of the way, I'll tell you the basic differences of the bad old probe/mx-6 piece of s*** engine:
-the crank is CAST not forged
-it has a bad flowing head (and intake manifold if you want to count that)
-there is NO place for a knock sensor (as reported by someone else on this board)
-there is NO coolant access hole for the factory oil cooler
-it has bad HLA cams and obviously a stupid distributor
obviously, you didn't care about the differences or care to find out... so as long as you're happy, it's all good
no, they are not different...explain to me how every p5 5-speed swap has accomplished this when the block does not bolt up?
I'm sorry but your high strung attitude does not mean you are accurate, provide evidence that the automatic transmission will NOT bolt to a block out of a 5-speed protege and I will eat my hat...good luck in finding that!
like I said, you ASSume I said it won't bolt up... I merely specified ONLY that the 5 speed and auto engines are different
your willingness to argue, and be arrogant only stops you from learning
so becareful with what you read and what you say because now you can have my honda hat and eat it too
