NEMOC Random BS Thread

The P5 began making a rear clunking noise again, but this one seemed to progress to be more severe and have way more clunking than normal.

A brief look in the wheel well and what do I see? One of the swaybar brackets has snapped. So need new sway bar brackets from the dealer. Phew, easy problem!

Also the steering in the P5 feels like it has some play (when I wobble left/right left/right, it feels like something is loose), so I need to investigate that.

It rains once in a while and it shouldn't just sit around. Last time it sat for 2.5 weeks, I had some starter issues. I try to drive it once a week. Also, if I'm going somewhere real shady, I take the P5.

A fellow member tipped me off about the AWR swaybar brackets, so I'm ordering a set of those.

Which bar is on there?

One off an MP3.

Gotcha. Factory endlinks or something else? The AWR bracket, if it's what I'm thinking of, moves the bar about an inch off of the subframe, so I don't know if that will play a role in how it's currently mounted / length of the endlink.

Don't mind me... my brain is just rolling along on it's own trail.

I originally had awr endlinks. Bt they got kinda crusty and old and I put OEM's on. Was getting alot of noise from the old AWR endlinks.

Never ran the brackets, not needed for the mp3 sway. it's a little larger than stock but not as big as the awr sway.

Right. That's what I figured. My AWR's made noise until I gave them a healthy dosing of impact wrench. They were quiet then.

Got my hawk pads and ss brake lines installed this weekend. Ran out of time to install ss clutch line and clear corners though. Easiest car I've ever had to do the brakes on, that was a pleasant surprise. Only part that took a while was getting those damn rear caliper pistons to screw in all the way. SS lines are taking a while to get used to, brakes engage way sooner now.

Tried the corksport SS brake lines, wanted to see what the red colored lines would look like in person. Almost a burgundyish hue to it, very dark. Reasonably close to my car's body paint color, looks great installed. The clutch line is very bright red, and doesn't match the brake lines at all. Wish I wasn't so anal about these things, LOL, the color mismatch is bugging me a little.

Because everyone is going to look under your car. Hehe....no, I'm picky about about that stuff too.

I was so busy this weekend I had no time to due my brake pads. Saved for yet another day.

Woohooo My 900th Post..just thought id let u guys know that...and now its raining once again..

I need to get brake pads for the 8... where's a good place to look for some deals?

I got a quote from Midas right down the road... $526 for front and rear with rotor resurfacing... WTF! I'm really glad to hear that it's an easy job because I'm definitely not forking out that kind of money!

i was going to just be lazy and have a local shop dchange the tranny fluid and filter in m g/f's focus and they were charging 145. i was like....uhhhh....now i know why i do all this s*** myself. lol. imagine the amount of money people spend getting stuff fixed on their vehicles you do yourself. seriously....it must be thousands and thousands. oye.

That's business for ya. Obviously a very good percentage of vehicle owners can not do it themselves or do not have the time.

Don't know if you are looking for stock pads or something better. Corksport had everything I needed in stock, their prices compared well too. Had to wait a week for the rear pads to come in, hawks have been in low supply lately. Just remove the lower caliper bolt, swing caliper out of the way, and the pads are right there. Rear caliper pistons a bit tricky but not too bad.

Sucked when I lived in an apt and just had no place to work on my car. Bled dry by shops and their outrageous prices. Especially if you blow a radiator or something, you know you are going to get taken to the cleaners.

ya or if they make a mistake not knowing what they're doing ... how much more it could cost!
