Burning oil under full boost 4th gear and up

Like the title says i'm burnin oil bad. After i let off the throttle under boost in higher gears the thing blows smoke like a ******* diesel. Ran a compression check but didn't bleed it and everything checked out spark plugs looked good. The only thing i've done recently is the bsd but i don't think that'd be the cause. I've got a catch can and i empty it regularly. I still could have a ****** up piston ring which i REALLY REALLY hope its not. Any other ideas what it could be? PLEASE help me out here guys!!! The really weird part is that whenever i check the dip stick after running the car it reads almost nothing. But after it cools down the level increases and when it hasn't been started for a few hours it looks overfull on the dipstick which would cause burning oil but it makes absolutely no sense. i need some advice on this one thanks alot

It isn't a ring. Ring failures show under load (smoke on acceleration). Smoke on decel, is high vacuum, which is PCV system malfunction, bad valve guides or seals, bad turbo seals (my vote).

You can do a poor man's leakdown in a couple ways. You can watch the needle on your comp gauge as it strokes towards it's highest reading. If all 4 stroke to max in about the same # of hits, (less than 6) all is well. You can also modify a sparkplug by coring out the inside, attaching a dry break fitting to it, hooking it up to shop air and listening for leaks at the oil fill, tailpipe and intake manifold. If there are significant leaks, each will tell you of a different problem.

Your diopstick readings are normal. You need to run the car, shut it off, wait a minute or two for the oil to drain back, then test.

turbo seal totally pooped out, maybe? after you let off gas the oil pressure drops, the shaft that connects housings moves a good deal and oil spits into the exhaust side housing - just thinking out loud - does it smoke after long idle? could the pull from strong pcv affect the pull on a bad turbo seal? maybe a combo of both?

That is not burning oil, burning oil is a blue-black smoke that smells like dogs***. If you're going WOT in higher gears, it's just normal.

First, don't buy a FI car without knowing how to properly check your oil. (eek2)

Never check your oil while the car is running. Best way to check the oil is under normal operating temperatures, with the car OFF. cold morning checks also work.

So again, what's your problem?

Normal? No, it's not normal at all for the car to smoke heavily after lifting off the throttle.

I have been smoking lightly under heavy load in 1st and second or if I down shift and get on it at freeway speeds. Only for the initial take off then it goes away. I have let it idle forever and no smoke. Havent really worried about it as it passes the idle test (dealership test).

Put the car back to stock and take it in to service. Get them to do it and have Mazda fix it for free!

it's normal, STFU if you don't know what you're talking about. the 2.3L MZR DISI engine runs pig rich, if you don't have any cats or just remove one, you will blow black smoke when you go wot.
(bang)

i doubt it's happening when he's letting off the gas.

Funny cuz my foot lifts off the throttle then it happens not under accelleration i'm not special ed. Not being an ass but i know when it happens. I've had my turbo replaced once and it smoked at idle this isn't the case now. This amount of smoke ain't normal. It never did it until recently and its far from normal. I used to get an occasional puff of smoke but this s*** pours out. I'm runnin a custom tune from surgeline so i'm not runnin overly rich i'm hittin high 9's on my afr's

And arkenzo it is blue black smoke. However i can't smell it due to the fact i'm moving at freeway speeds and the smoke is moving in the opposite direction of my nose holes

Perhaps OP can check his connections on his catch can. The description sounds very much like some type of PCV malfunction or a clogged line to or from the valve or the line going to and from the crankcase to the intake manifold or a defective PCV valve itself. Maybe accidentally installed it backward when putting on the catch can. I lean toward something regarding the crankcase ventilation system. Look for the simple before the complex.

that's rich....

Well my ngr bpv is ******. Might be the issue. Runnin the stock valve right now and it can't hold 21psi so gotta wait and see if that was the cause

its either your PCV system (for which the design by Mazda sucks balls) or the turbo seals or perhaps the turbo oil drain line

PCV valve is fine catch can wasn't full and when my turbo was bad before i'd blow an ass load of smoke at idle. I'm gettin so fed up with this car its one thing after another. Too bad i'm in too deep to sell er lol
