Trade in GTI for MS3?

ive been in the market for a new car for 3 months now, it was pretty much set on the ms3 from day one but i opened up my mind and tryed atleast 6 cars 2 or 3 times each.
nothing drives like a MS3, nothing sounds like it, nothing comes close. the GTI was fun and felt a little more refined but didnt feel like it had any balls.

than i watched this and it was pretty much dead on to my test driving and research haha.

Keep the GTI..I prefer the classic GTi's interior over the ms3. Get a chip and few bolts on for the GTi and you'll be happy.
Chip HERE
MEth HERE

APR Stage 1
-Carbonio Intake
-W/M injection 4 GPH Nozzle ( the mix is 1 gal of valuecraft washer fluid mixed with 2 bottles of HEET which is around a 50/50 mix)
- 2 Gal of 100 octane race gas

End result is:
258WHP BABY!

Or you could get the MS3 and nearly get that WHP from stock....

But... would probably be cheaper to keep the current car and do what he said.

Only keep the GTI if its white. (The car I wanted before I decided on the MS3)

I test drove a GTI before I bought the MS3. The HP & Torque gain was sick! The trans. is being addressed in the 2010 MS3. It is a totally workable trans.,(07-09) just not the best for power shifts. The trans. in the 07-09 MS3'S was designed by a Mazda bosses son. (Wun-Dum-Sun)!!

Hey-All you bashing the GTI for being way down on power, you just wait for the 2010!!! Oh wait, it's the same ol 200/207 set up.

WHY!!!!!????

I know..........They only did it so that people will want to buy the upcoming VW R20 more............I know I would want to if I would be able to afford it.

And officially, it is 210 ft/lbs for 2010 I think (lol2)...........

Don't let forum stories about blown engines scare you away. Unless your goal is to make crazy (>350whp) power.

Very good thing to read. Thanks.

Honestly, how many motors have blown out of the thousands of MS3s that are being driven? If it's as the post suggests, regarding a cruise at a constant rev, then the people that should be blowing motors left and right are the highway cruisers. What kind of drivers were the folks that have blown motors?

Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that they're investigating. I'd just be expecting there to be more blown motors than there really are.

Yeah I am a little worried but not gonna stop driving my car until there's so hard proof. But if thats the case.. thats basis for a recall.

there are quite a bit and those are just the ones we know of, not everyone goes onto forums.

My fiscally responsible side says keep the GTI. It's the smart thing to do.

My Car guy side says get rid of that sucker and get thyself to the mazda dealer.

The GTI is a tight little package that is neutered by a weak stock motor. It's a good motor but it just can't hang with the competition. I know power isn't everything but dang it, it counts for a lot.

Fixed:)........And it is pretty much trade for the MS3 or mod the GTI now for me...........That Stage 1 ECU updgrade for like $500 is starting to look better and better...............

The only thing I don't like about VWs is the repairs. My roommate has had a ton of diffrent ones and it's always something...Plus even a fairly well modded GTI is still working to keep up with a Speed3.

For the price you are looking at paying for an 09, this is a no brainer. The 2010's are ugly as sin so consider this last chance at getting one new. It has the power, handling and braking you want and the motor mount honestly can be changed on ramps in 5 minutes if you decide to get an aftermarket one. A short ram intake can also be changed with basic tools in about 15 minutes and will give you a solid 15whp/15wtq.

no brainer to me...
